eBay's current logo came to be through years and years of progress, and in my opinion, it's one of the best examples that you could have used.

Facebook's is super simple, but it's classy, and the font is that unique that you would always know it's that Facebook.

To be honest, I think that I may be the one wasting my time here, because you couldn't care less about anyone who disagrees with you, or doesn't respond to you in a way that you can go back to them with something like: "register and check the site first".

There is no need to do any such thing; you can tell right off the bat that it needs further work first.

"Class"??? Really??

Those are the old PayPal logos, you know that very well, but they're still better than the one that you have, and the designs (even back then) had some sense to them too, whereas you couldn't be bothered to give the site some pizazz by working on a pleasant color scheme, and not leave it looking all default, like it came out of some Fiverr store, and is still waiting for you to get a proper theme done.

Here, have a nice song, because you replied to me with some old logos, completely ignoring everything else that I wrote:

It's been nearly 3 hours. Is the Register form too difficult to fill out or something?

I think that yours had one layer, some free font, and you probably didn't even pay the creator of the said typeface, whereas Gateway's has a logo that makes sense, and its own typespace (even back then). Definitely seeing some class, and pizazz.

Well, at least nobody said this thread has YesSignals vibes all over it.

Look at the first responses to that thread, too. Most people were being supportive.

Man you need to grow a tougher skin.

There was a lot of good, constructive criticism offered up to you in this thread.

There were also several good luck with your venture type posts too (I know because I was one of them).

And, you have several people giving what they consider to be "brutally honest" comments.

You asked for feedback and they gave it to you.

You should not get all defensive just because you don't like, or agree with some of the comments.

Say "thank you" and move on. Why "thank you"? Because they did what you asked, they provided feedback.

Take what you need, ditch what you don't want, be proud of what you built and move forward.

Just my advise and worth every cent that you paid for it.

And once again, I wish you every good fortune with your site.

He should have stated he wanted only "good comments" on his website.

really, all the people on GFY are potential clients/customers, yet he can't yet seem to realize nobody is willing to put something for sale there in the state of the website as it is now.

Looks a bit better with the added space. I would personally increase it more to 15px haha.

Also this is just personal taste... I would change the word "VEND" to a nice green color. And the buttons that are currently red to green. Green means go. Green will bring you green. Don't ask me why.:pimp

I like the way you think. I actually tried green instead of red when I created the color palette for the site, but couldn't make anything I liked.

My external hard drive failed almost a year ago and I lost all the PSD images for the site, so I have to re-create the logo and branding images anyway. I'll try green instead of red again when I mess around in photoshop this morning. Thanks for your input. I truly appreciate it.

Here is my take:

Congrats, you made a marketplace site from scratch. It works and that's all that matters. Design elements don't really matter at this stage. You have a functional product. Everything else can be changed or improved with time.

Now here comes the hard part: How are you going to get people to it?

Building this type of site requires you to both get vendors and customers at the same time and enough people coming in at once for the site to take off on its own. This is usually where most projects fail. The whole "build it and they will come" approach I see so many people use doesn't work anymore.

I'm curious to see what your competitive edge is to get momentum going.

Tube Ace 05-27-2022 10:33 AM

Alright, I redid the color palette.

https://i.imgur.com/EgeMfc0.png

I think the colors "pop" more now with the dark header background, right?

Looks more modern and has its own "personality" now.

I think the red text color for 'Vend' in the logo was okay, just looked generic with the faint grey nav background
