Owning an airplane is not much different than owning a motorcycle. Financially or otherwise. Pretty much the only difference is you can keep one of them in your garage. It just depends on how far you range out of the ordinary.

I had a private license to fly a Robin DR400 in the 80s.

This thread delivers.

Every time I drive past the North Las Vegas airport signs for flying lessons, I'm like hmmmm. Always been curious about flying.

Then again, if they ever manufacture the Cybertruck I pre-ordered, who knows if I'll even be driving a car, much less a plane.

If I remember correctly, you'll fly solo with as little as 8 hours instruction. You'll likely be practicing touch and goes with your instructor and after landing he'll jump out of the plane and tell you to keep going. It's a surprise move. There you are, on the runway and it's time to solo. Exhilarating! The remaining 32 hours is flying and learning navigation. It's definitely an experience you should not pass up.

Um, not quite. There's a "list of things" you have to do and meet.

How things are structure will depend if it's a part 61 or part 141 school/program. The time requirements are also dependent on wether it's 61 or 141.

But, when you're instructor feels like the student is ready, the student will go up into the pattern and do a feel laps solo.

Anybody instrument rated? I only fly visual in nice clear weather. I never got that far after giving up on a commercial license. I never saw a need for that flying for fun.

I did quite a bit of instrument training for safety reasons, but yeah if the sky is anything more than partly cloudy, I didn't really care to fly.

There are only 2 happy days in the life of a plane/boat owner - the day he buys it and the day he sells it.

If it flies, floats or fucks it's cheaper to rent.

My uncle had a Cessna and a boat - he sold both because after some enthusiasm in the beginning he rarely used either.

He still has his wife though

only malnourished people who do not eat white bread and do not drink water, can fall for marketing scam and buy an airplane

people with sufficient food in stomach, will tell plane marketers to go away

healthy people help other people and not grab everything fir themselves, and when they grab, they almost always grab garbage, because they are not thinking clearly

That's from the electronic attack squadron 129 from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, Washington.
