You must have missed the (now deleted) thread where Baddog warned GFY advertisers of what he perceived as unfair censorship. His was of saying that maybe advertising on GFY isn't such a great idea. If that's not fucking with someone's business I don't know what is.

Should we have 2 sets of rules? One of the "OGs" and another set for everyone else? Do you really think Baddog should get a pass just because he's been trolling on GFY for 2 decades or whatever? Fuck that.

Baddog broke the rules, for the second time, and got his ass deservedly banned, again.

First and foremost; GFY is an asset to its shareholders and what little it makes from some banner ads isn't going to pay for much, if anything at all. It's viewed as an asset for completely different reasons, and rightfully so.

It's simply not in GFY's interest to keep baddog away, nor you, nor Duke Skywalker or anyone else who might have different views. It's a message board after all, and when people aren't doing business, they kill time.

Everyone needs a little bit of a distraction, and I 100% stand behind my words.

I saw his thread, and it was a cry for help if anything, but in the end, not only would the advertisers not care one way or another, it also wouldn't make a difference to GFY even if they did.

Ban the creeps, not the dudes who were there through everything, and are enjoying their time online with the people that they've known for quite literally decades.

I really don't know, he hasn't done anything particularly ban worthy in my opinion, and I've seen a lot of things that went on for ages before they were dealt with, e.g. Tube Ace going after people in a very shitty manner, insulting people, etc... sort of similar to what sonofsam is doing now with Mr Pheer, and DVTimes with NatalieK. But all of them have a sordid history, and it kind of stays on that, but if you have an unhinged individual, you probably should remove him from the board. But, baddog isn't unhinged, and the worst he can do is post something that can be either interpreted or mistaken as something racist.

^^ those two, plus Rochard were relentless is constantly attacking Baddog. Sure, Baddog called J Falcon a spic, but how many times did he have to be attacked first because of his age?

These guys cry victim but turn a blind eye to their own roles in the matter.

What Baddog did is called a "crash out".

He's not unhinged. He's as sharp as a tack. So he knew what he was doing, knew exactly what he was saying when he said it and he knew the consequences. He chose to crash out.

No reason to pretend he didn't do nuffin or to act like he deserves some special needs superiority pass due to his extremely old age or whatever else y'all want him to get a special needs superiority pass for.

He made his choice consciously and with a clear mind. The rules are clear and consise. We should be congratulating him for getting what he asked for. Unless you're butthurt about it, then you need to take it up with him and ask him why he chose to Go Fuck Himself.

Fucking with somebody's nick after 22 years of posting on this board is unacceptable. Klen wasn't around when Lensman allowed my nick to change from my original [spunky1] to Spunky around 20 years ago. You were banned permanently back then and I grabbed it. Whatever it's water under the bridge, right?
When you come back and see your nick has been changed and told allegations of hacking. I think anybody should be concerned and try to protect themselves in any way they can.
I knew Klen changed it but told me another story and I said you shouldn't have been banned for it. You're back after a short time out as well as Baddog will be.
I'm trying to forget it happened, but coming here leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

These nicknames/people come and go of course and many people are banned over the years. Baddog is not a fake nick. Personally I don't have any issues with Baddog, he played a unique role of being the industry photographer along side JFK and Michael. He is not affiliated with the Advertisers, Content or Traffic programs, does not compete with Affiliates does not cause any harm. Seems like the issue here is difference of opinions between people or industry friends. I don't think he actually created drama enough for Advertisers to stop paying. The board is a lot slower these days and this thread brought out many old school names out and many opinions from active ones!

I don't think his ban should be permanent. Definitly deserves a timeout for saying racist shit. Doesn't matter if it's harmful or not in one's eyes. It's 2023, being a racist is not good, either keep it to yourself or adjust your shitty views.

It's difficult to weigh in because I'm not privy to everything that has happened, and discussed and to how the GFY mods set + apply their rules.

I don't know to what extent Baddog went to deserve the latest ban.

I do know he has harassed (at least one) member of the industry outside of the boards. Also, if you look at his post history in the past few months, you may notice a steady decline in the quality of his posts to a point where it's debatable if he crossed the line between trolling by playing the character of a grumpy old man to exhibiting outright toxic behaviour.

Taking that into consideration; I can understand why the decision to remove him from this community was made.

Would I make the same decision? I don't know because I don't have all of the facts at my disposal.

I get where you're coming from but to me, the problem with your phrase is that it doesn't address the fact that different 'clusters' have had, and continue to have, patterns of differential experiences that are related to skin shade and access to wealth

I like the word reify. basically means something does not actual exist but is real in practice/consequences

I was more Klen style when I was mod of a pretty big board, peeps had an issue I'd rather discuss it than clamp down on critique. I listened, I explained as much as I could, but never once did I change a well-thought out decision I made, in conjunction with co-mods. not sure about here but most boards with a mod team don't ban 'real' members (as in, not spammers or fake nics), without team collaboration

No, that's not what happened.

That was just a small part. A few of the regular clowns kept sparring with him and then they started getting nasty about his age, so he fired back about one's ethnicity and then the clowns ran with it. But they don't see it that way, of course. The only see what he did, not what caused the reaction.
