For a few months after I bought my house and again after a refi.. a car would appear on the road above the house, someone would take some pics and then drive off. After seeing one car a second time, I walked up and asked the woman what she was doing. She worked for a third party appraisal company. With most home and refi appraisals they are required to find at least two other homes, condos, etc that were recently sold or refinanced to use as comparison to see of the sale or value price of the home being purchased or refinanced is actually a true fair market value.

why wouldn't the guy in the car simply have said something along the lines of 'well i work for so an so and we needs pictures of certain homes in the area.... bla bla bla'


this is the main mystery.

sounds sketchy to me because he didn't speak up about why he was actually doing it. Because if it was legit, he would not have hesitated to say something.

UPDATE, I come back from out of town, nothing stolen, nothing to worry about, i asked my neighbours if anything seemed strange, or if they are looking for a loan, and nothing came up

Sounds like a property appraiser, when homes are appraised or you pay for one, they give you snap shots of the houses they compared yours too.

Insurance companies also from time to time come by and snap but they identify themselves...

This has happend to me in the past back when I had an FBI file opened on me in 1993 in my earlier porn days, and I was paranoid over anything and everything. Even set up elaborate camera security system to watch what is outside my home.
