Basically over for web programmers

Can you take this PSD file and convert it to HTML5 Responsive website?

I can definitely help you slice a PSD into a responsive HTML5 webpage — including:

✅ Exporting assets (buttons, icons, images)

✅ Converting the layout to HTML/CSS

✅ Making it responsive using media queries and flex/grid

✅ Optional: Adding animations, JS behavior, or Bootstrap/Tailwind

📌 Here's what I need from you:

Upload the PSD file (you can drag and drop it here).

Let me know if you want:

A specific framework (e.g., Tailwind, Bootstrap)?

Static layout or interactive features?

Exact behavior on mobile/tablet?

Once you upload the PSD, I’ll slice it and generate clean, production-ready HTML/CSS.

yes, this is something that’s recently become possible in this environment.
🆕 Here’s what changed:

As of mid-2024, I can now:

🔍 Read PSD files layer-by-layer (via internal tools in this chat).

🖼️ Export visual elements from PSDs (slicing).

🧱 Generate responsive HTML5 layouts from them.

💡 Combine it all into clean, developer-friendly code using Tailwind, Bootstrap, or custom CSS.

🕑 Why I couldn’t before:

Earlier versions of this environment didn’t support reading or extracting structured data from .psd files.

well, i only use ai to do boring grunt work for me and maybe help me find that stupid semicolon or dot that i missed in my code.. eventually, ai will get there and it will be able to do whatever you need, but i find it easier to write the code myself then to explain what i need exactly. chatgpt, however, is really good with mysql queries which helps a lot

In the early 1990s when computers in the work place were becoming more common a lot of people were worried about how a lot of people were about to lose their jobs. "Why hire an accountant when you have Lotus 1-2-3 on computers?". Well, you still need someone to put the numbers into the computer.

We will still need people to create websites and write code. We will just need a less of them, and the entry barrier to those jobs will get lower.

It is what it is.

I asked it to convert my massive script into modules that run one after the other for easy updates and it did it in one try.

It's certainly over for software developers if the site operator doesn't value development or their product. You can cobble together a lot with AI, but it will mostly look like, in my experience, a badly done WordPress site plagued with plugins or something out of DHTML-era days.

I have used AI extensively as a method to rubber-duck and as a search engine for heavy documentation, but it hallucinates often and has no real understanding of the underlying principles of software programming. I don't really see AI filling that niche until we hit AGI. But then everything is over and we better have UBI or we're all homeless.

Slight Update...

 BLACKMONSTERS SAVAGE ROASTING APP
1,000,000 Ways to Tell Your Dog They're Stupid (But Lovingly)

[hr]

 PROJECT OVERVIEW

Built a completely bonkers web application that takes photos of my stupid, slow dog BlackMonsters and overlays them with brutally honest quotes about their complete lack of intelligence. What started as a simple "add text to image" idea turned into a full-blown social network with user accounts, friends systems, and ranking algorithms. Because why do something simple when you can massively over-engineer it AND roast your dog with 1 million different combinations?

Core Concept: Upload dog photos → Get roasted with 1 of 1,000,000 unique brutally honest quotes → Share with friends → Compete for top rankings

[hr]

⭐ KEY FEATURES

 Photo Processing Engine
• Upload images in JPG/PNG/GIF formats (10MB limit)
• Real-time overlay generation using PHP GD library
• Smart text wrapping and semi-transparent backgrounds
• Automatic file management and optimization

 The Savage Quote Generation System
1,000,000 unique combinations generated from:
- 100 brutal adjectives (stupid, braindead, slow, sluggish, dimwitted...)
- 100 pathetic actions (moves like molasses, stares at walls, loses races to snails...)
- 100 resigned endings (but we're stuck with them, and we question our life choices...)
• Smart rotation ensures all quotes used before repeating
• Database tracking of usage frequency and timestamps
• Brutally honest but lovingly mean roasts for your stupid dog

 Full Social Network
• User registration with secure password hashing
• Customizable profiles with bios and statistics
• Friends system (add, accept, decline, remove)
• User search functionality
• View any user's photo galleries

 Rankings & Analytics
• Top photos by day/week/month/year
• Like system with AJAX interactions
• View tracking and engagement metrics
• User statistics dashboard
• Real-time popularity rankings

 Modern UI/UX
• Responsive design works on desktop + mobile
• CSS gradients and smooth animations
• Modal dialogs for photo viewing
• Hover effects and micro-interactions
• Clean, modern aesthetic

[hr]

[hr]

 SAVAGE ROAST EXAMPLES

Quote:
Sample BlackMonsters Roasts (Now With Extra Brutality):

"BlackMonsters is stupid, moves at the speed of molasses, but somehow we still keep them."

"BlackMonsters is braindead, stares at walls for hours, and we question our life choices daily."

"BlackMonsters is glacial, loses races to snails, yet we continue to provide room and board."

"BlackMonsters is dense, can't figure out automatic doors, but they're too dumb to rehome."
[hr]

 INSTALLATION QUICKSTART

Prerequisites:
Code:
# Ubuntu/Debian
sudo apt install php mysql-server apache2 php-mysql php-gd

# macOS (Homebrew)
brew install php mysql httpd
Setup:
  1. Run python setup.py (has headers + enter-to-exit as requested)
  2. Execute php database_setup.php to create DB + generate 1 million savage quotes
  3. Configure Apache virtual host
  4. Set directory permissions: chmod 755 uploads/ overlays/
  5. Visit site and start getting brutally roasted!

[hr]

 WHY THIS IS AWESOME

Started Simple: "Let's add funny text to dog photos"
Ended Up With: A full social network with 1,000,000 savage roasts, user profiles, friends systems, ranking algorithms, and more brutal honesty than most therapy sessions

Perfect For:
• Learning full-stack PHP development
• Understanding database design and relationships
• Practicing modern web UI/UX design
• Getting brutally honest about your pet's intelligence
• Showcasing technical skills with savage humor

Technologies Demonstrated:
• OOP PHP with proper architecture
• MySQL optimization and indexing
• AJAX interactions and real-time updates
• Image processing and file handling
• Security best practices
• Responsive web design
• Social network mechanics

[hr]

 BLACKMONSTERS APPROVED! ✨
Because every dog deserves their own ridiculously over-engineered photo roasting empire

[hr]

Tech Stack Summary: PHP | MySQL | HTML5/CSS3 | JavaScript | Apache | GD Library
UI Framework: Custom responsive design with gradients & animations
 Compatibility: Desktop + Mobile responsive
Security: SQL injection prevention, XSS protection, secure file uploads

If your average user doesn't even know what sftp is, I'm almost certain they won't be able to telnet into a server and start running ssh commands, so in that respect, I don't think it's quite over yet for developers.

I've been testing a few different providers to see if it can improve my own development time. I'm not sure yet if it has, maybe I need a better prompt. Anyway I only did a basic bootstrap layout (1 page lander with hero carousel and scroll to section navigation), a quick query to pull records from a database and a function to display the results in said layout using lazy load. So, technically, it did provide both front end (html, css, javascript) and backend programming (php code) from a prompt.

Normal time (100% finished links/text/images/etc) without AI:

Maybe 2-3 hours.

Time with AI:

Maybe 2 hours. But, I had to fine tune things and replace placeholder images as well, so maybe closer to 3 hours.

I really don't think your average user is going to have the slightest clue on how any of it works, or how to piece it together. I know there are some services available that will put it all together for you, but they will still have to pay a monthly fee to use it. Maybe the DIY types will try it, then realize it's not as easy or quick as they thought.

Either way, I don't think AI is going away any time soon, so probably best to figure out how to use it to your advantage.
