New webmaster here, built my own porn site and trying to figure out traffic & growth

Hey guys,

I’m lazzyman, new here on GFY.

I’ve been working on my own porn website for a while now. I built the site myself from scratch, learning as I went, breaking things, fixing them, and slowly improving it. The content is mainly around OnlyFans creators and webcam-style stuff, and right now it’s very much a work in progress.

At this stage, my biggest focus is learning how to actually bring decent traffic and grow the site the right way. I’m trying to understand what sources are worth testing, what’s mostly a waste of time, and how people here usually approach growth in adult without burning money or getting into trouble.

I know this industry has a lot of traps, so if anyone has general tips, things they wish they knew earlier, or mistakes to avoid when starting out, I’d really appreciate it.

Happy to be here and looking forward to learning from you guys.

Welcome.

I recommend a mix of posting stuff you just like or fits your niche and stuff with an affiliate link that can make you revenue.

Welcome to GFY. If you're running your own site, the single most important thing right now is getting your SEO fundamentals right — proper sitemap, fast loading, good meta tags. Content is easy to make, getting found is the hard part. Good luck.

I think you should focus on organic growth first up, and maybe once you're ready expand into some socials such as X and Reddit.

By the sound of it, your content will be perfect to monetize with affiliate offers once you're ready

In the past you could get sales via affiliates.

But these days the best way is probably via such as Twitter.

Have social media accounts, bust most do not allow porn. So be careful what you post.

If you shoot the content yourself and it is exclusive it probably will help.

If you shoot the content then ask the models who you shoot to promote your site on there social media sites.

In the past people worked on SEO.

That means to get things ranking high in Google.

Personally I would not care about SEO as it’s probably going to be hard to get your site ranked high these days.

So I would not be tempted to spend any money or even much time on SEO unless you are sure you know of how things are working.

It is still worth considering affiliates as well.

Traditionally sites offer 50%. Any less than 50% and most affiliates won’t bother to promote your site unless they are guaranteed lots of sales.

More than 50% and you could end up making a loss as your profit will be so low that even if they bring in 100’s of sales, that after your expenses, you make nothing.

You may want to be your own affiliate.

By this I mean set up a blog or indeed several.

And post pics and possibly vids to it, promoting your site.

But. And this is the big but.

It is not 2005. Back then you could set up a site and get sales.

Today people see porn as free and see it on tubes and Twitter (pirated) and other places.

You may also find people pirate your content.

But that does not mean you should not try.

I have seen sites set up in the last few years making huge amounts.

A few things I would always suggest.

1. A decent domain name.

I have seen sites fail simply because the domain name sucks.

2. A nice looking site.

A poor looking site will mean less sales.
