These are the top ten most influential songs since 1978? I don't find the list so disagreeable as I do the order. I think 'Stayin Alive' by the Bee Gees and 'Relax' by Frankie Goes To Hollywood are glaring omissions.

Well, if VH1 is basing their decision on how influential this song was based on sheer impact, rap and hip-hop had also advanced quickly in the previous 25 years?the bands that I listed above had songs that were also instrumental in bringing this type of music to the mainstream scene

This song gets waaaay too much credit. It's probably one of RUN-DMC's worst songs... It's not even an original song! Jam Master J has got some way way better beats -- like the one from Peter Piper...

influental and good are not always the same thing. Fact is those songs on the list that titmouse posted almost all herald in an era of a type of music.
