I keep hearing this mulitiple attacker sceanario like it's godsend. I've been alive 34 years, and I got jumped by myself one time, when I was 7 years old.
Most of the time, I'm with my boys and never by myself. Dig said it earlier, if you are getting jumped by multiple assailants, you are fucked anyways. Best to take out a knee and throat as soon as possible. What your missing is that MMA/NHB is the BEST training any fighter can get, to fight in any range. Or to simplify it, what Nick has done, 7 years of Jiu Jitsu and 3 years of Thai. Every range is accounted for. Truly MMA. I have 2 years Thai, 4 years of Goju, 2 years of Aikido, and a year of Judo. Oh, 5 months GJJ, which fucking rocks! |
Try to get this pic right this time...
At my school we have done multiple opponent fighting and ground fighting....it is like getting in a car wreck...best case scenario is the car that hits you is a Toyota tercel worst case the Mack Truck....ugly fighting. Here is one of my boys having a hard night in the ring.... Alex Hunter....fought in two UFC. Just started his comeback from knee surgery. Here is his recent fight pics. http://www.dirtyfighting.com/fights.jpg Hitinface...(no that is not me getting hit in the face thank god) |
Martial arts are for women. Wrestling is for men.
I wrestle, and I promise you I could beat anyone else's ass on GFY. No, fuck that, I could beat any 3 people's asses on GFY. And that's a fucking fact. |
Unless another GFY member is a wrestler :)

wrestle or jiujitsu? Seen to many wrestlers get their heads handed to them in mma.
Hitinface. |
I have been in the martial arts for 22 years ... mostly Traditional Taekwon-do (not the olympics bullshit), Jujitsu, Hapkido, Judo, etc ... and there sure is some funny and odd ideas floating around.
Firstly just about ever good Muai Thai fighter has had groundings in more traditional martial arts and just use the MT training to harden themselves up. Secondly, I have trained under several Majors, several other high ranking and proven US combat specialists, many with 100's un armed kills under their belt and every one does the traditional martial arts. Funnily enough .... grappling and ground fighting is only taught a little. Standing fighting is what is emphasised. Only my 2c :) :2 cents: |
I did free style wrestling, ultimate fighting (Oleg Taktarov School ), judo

If you don't mind sometime, need to ask you questions about your training. |
No matter how bad you are, or think you are, the old saying
still applies, there is always somebody tougher, with more skills that will turn your face and or body into a blood fucking mess. I NEVER underestimate anyone no matter what. |

My partner and I produced this book some years back.
Still sells like hotcakes. http://www.mma.tv/fightersnotebook/ |
that multiple attacker scenario is interesting. The guy who trained me in muay thai had (obviously) very hard leg kicks.
I would imagine, against an untrained thug on the street, a single solid kick to the thigh could probably eliminate 1 person right off the bat. While i trained in ground fighting, i would never go there in a fight if there were more than 1 people. Even if you slap an armbar on in haolf a second, while your cranking it and snapping his elbow, his friend is gonna be all over you. Fortunately, i dont leave the house much, so its not much of a concern |

163? you are about my size.. i'm sure you can hold your own.. but... have you seen the size of Anthony? I'm betting on the laws of physics here.. it would be like Oscar De La Hoya fighting Mike Tyson.. both in their prime... shear power would ultimately win.. 9 out of 10 times... :2 cents: I know just enough MMA to get my ass kicked by someone who knows more :Graucho |

I'm down to 248 now, from about 280 when I saw you in LV. Alot less fat and a reasonable bit of more muscle.
I'm planning to start training again in the fall, want to drop the rest of the excess weight first. Boneprone maybe you organize a 'for fun' MMA event @ one of hte tradeshows |
I've trying to do the same. Since I started training with the Gracies, I've stopped lifting. I lost some size in the shoulders, but not much weight wise. Grappling is an all body workout, even my toes are sore after rolling with Rener.
I can roll for about 5 to 7 minutes straight before getting gassed. that's where quitting smoking and working on my cardio I hope pays off. |
Sounds like there are some pretty big dudes here (who train). Ive got to watch who I fuck with now. :winkwink:
Im getting lighter and lighter every day... I dropping weight to fight at 170lb this August. Cool to see so many who train MMA |
