listen here

Losing both your parents, specially if you are young in age, is one of the saddest and most traumatic event it can happen in your life.

When someone tells me he lost his parent, I don't dare to question or joke with it and you shouldn't either. I guess you need to go through this to understand what I mean.

Unfortunately I was in kind of similar position with Bradley when I lost my father from the same disease at the age of 18. I had a sister 16y.old then, my mother was left without a job and I had to obligatory join army for 12 months. Fortunately we had the financial and psychological support of my uncle and things through time returned to more normal rhythms.

When you completely lack support, any kind of support you don't get through these situations that easy. There's a lot of pain, questions and thoughts that do not let your mind in peace for a single second. If you can help someone that faces a problem do it. If you do not want or do not care, at least don't leave open the possibility to make him feel worse.

hey. i dont agree with you at all
There is a lot of luck

#1. some people dont know about porn biz or just dont know you can make money, so they end up working in BK for many yrs and barely making it - They work hard , yeah, but they will never be rich no matter how hard they try

#2. Some dumb stupid kids have rich parents who left millions for them so they don't have to work - I consider that luck.

#3 im getting tired, but what im trying to say is that some people are in a better position to suceed than others.

I dont think i made too much sense but im tired.

1. Its ok to work at BK as a kid or teenager, but you should be saving and having plans to do better. People who claim they have "bad luck" and stay at BK just do that because they have no vision

2. Kids who get money from there parents, arent lucky, they are just fortunate.

Read augusts issue of Money magazine, there was a similar article in regards to luck, which makes perfect sence.. its explained much better than i can, and im sure you would agree.

hey good point but let me give you a true scenario..

My friend works in mc donalds. He has 3 little sisters to take care of. He can barely make it through. Now tell me how you can save when you don't even make enough to pull through..

Remember you gotta buy grocery, medical bills, etc,,

All im saying is some people are just fucked up and its not their fault and they can't do anything about it.

I said there is always luck involved in everything. My age? Probably much older than you.

So you're telling me that everytime someone lands their dream job it's because they worked hard to get it? Even though there are probably hundreds of others that worked just as hard if not harder than you to get that same job? Unless you put a gun to the head of the person in charge of hiring, you lucked out getting that job, period.

No such thing as making your own luck. If there was I'd be in Vegas gambling tomorrow :)

There is always ways man.. He works at MCd's.. making what like 7$ an hour? On his days off he could try to find a job at say Bestbuy or another place that is easy to get hired to.. but pay more.. hell Home Depot pays 12$ an hour and you dont need any experience..

or ask for more hours at mcdonalds, granted he has to take care of his sisters so he may be stressed for time, but nevertheless, there is always a way.. its just about working your ass off and putting away what you can.. and eventually the girls will be old enough that they can get jobs.. then who knows what could happen.. if he is motivated

ugh.. first off, gambling has NOTHING to do with luck, there is skill involved and just pure chance.. depending on what your playing..

anways..

Let me answer your senerio with one of my own.

John works hard at work, best worker they have ever seen, never late, completes jobs quickly and thourough

Mike works kinda hard, usually on time, completes jobs, but not as good as John, But he is also good friends with the boss, therefore he gets the job..

This has nothing to do with luck, its all about playing the system.. and making your own luck.. or "paving your own path" as they say

how about this scenario, John works hard, never late, but makes only $30,000/yr

Mike sits on his lazy ass and uses his comuter and makes say $300,000/yr

No luck huh?

Centurion 08-12-2003 11:20 PM

Damn..what a pissing contest this has turned into!

Turn down the sound a bit!

Here's my question for ya'll:

IF a person says, with honest conviction, "I dunno..I think it's a scam and I'm not going to contribute anything."..then is that person someone that should get scalded big time or what?

I've been both impressed and DISTRESSED at what has happened and been said in this thread. I just wish the "personalities" involved here could take their fight to a different thread and the main purpose of the thread could then play out.:2 cents:

Still man, its not about luck.. you guys are using the wrong terms.. its because mike is a suck up and got paid more, or mike is a friend or mike DID something that got him more money.. not just because he was born with luck

Yeah I got lucky finding out how to break into adult business that is for sure! No more making someone else rich while I struggled to pay bills.

Gexus:

You scenarios aren't the same as these people are already working at this place as I assume by your post.

And Mike is lucky he is friends with the boss.

Centurion:

I don't think anyone bashed anyone if they simply said they didn't want to give money because they "felt" it was a scam.

It's the ones that are trying to imply they KNOW it's a scam and ruining any chances of this guy getting anymore help that are getting "scalded".

As for taking the pissing match elsewhere, our replies at least show the truth behind the lies that some have posted in this thread and that's where our replies belong. And it keeps the original thread bumped to the top :)

Some bad stuff can happen to good people you know.
in my whole life, i was never out of work, on unemployment welfare, whatever. I had a great home and a wonderful family.
Just over three years ago, i woke up one morning and i didnt feel too good... really weak and tired. I had some strange bruises on me, that i didnt remember getting. I went to the doctor and within a couple of hours, i got the C word. Cancer, not just regular cancer, oh no thats too simple, i had Leukemia, with the Philadalphia disease thrown in as well. No known cure, " i hope you have your will in order" the doc said.
i used to look like this
http://www.shemp.com/robpic.gif
after a few months of treatment, i changed a little
http://shemp.com/rob2002pic.jpg
So give some consideration to our friend that asks for a few bucks when life has kicked him in the ass. Bad stuff can happen to anyone.

Sorry to hear that.... my grandmother passed away a couple months ago from cancer.. At the hospital, if you touched her skin, just softly.. she would bruse.. it was bad stuff.. I guess you just have to keep telling yourself that such is life.. and there isnt much you can do about it.. so enjoy while you can.... before my grandmother died, she looked at me and said "all well, what are ya gonna do" as though it was no big deal.. She always had a way of making things seem ok..
