JB ordered 475 sets on 31st October 2002 from www.paulmarkham.com our premium site. He also got a very nice discount.

Some of those sets have since been moved over to Bargain Basement and discounted.

So you had them for a whole year to use them and I have to keep them at the price you bought them at for ever?

What's the point in offering exclusive photo content now? You can buy 100x more content from all the good content providers for less than a penny.

The whole thing is just plain wrong. There's no other word. This industry is fucked up. (But we already know that anyway)

Don't come crying in 2 years because selling content will be worthless if you shoot your models in USA. No one will ever want to buy no-exclusive content again at $30-$50 per set from Markham, Cloud9, Sobe, etc. You will have to sell the set 100x before making a dime. People who don't buy licences won't buy more if the set is $5, trust me. Your real clients were people that you just insulted by selling everything @ 90-95% off.

This is not good for the industry and not good for YOU, the content providers. Short term business IS crap.

Imagine if Ferrari was selling their $300k car for $30k next month.
It would be the end of Ferrari, the brand everyone respected and admired. Everything has a value, and you must respect the people who paid the right price.

Anyway, if you don't at least understand my point, I'm wasting my time. :)

Because there's still a market for it ... which means $$$ TO BE MADE for producers that offer it and it DOES fulfill a need that certain webmasters have! :)

First of all, MANY webmasters ONLY buy or shoot (themselves)exclusive sets and pay TOP DOLLAR for it ... AND there are still tons of sites and content providers that OFFER exclusive, semi exclusive, and limited quantity sets IF that's what certain webmasters are looking for!

Second, your last statement there sounds like overexagerated bullshit ... who are "ALL THE GOOD CONTENT PROVDERS" selling GOOD QUALITY content for less than a penny?!?!?!

I disagree ... there's a HUGE opportunity for webmasters to ADD GREAT QUALITY CONTENT to there existing members areas for great prices ... I don't think that's wrong. I think it's a service to webmasters and HUGE VALUE for their $$$ spent.

This industry is changing everyday. I've made more $$$ in the past 4 months from my traffic business and ContentBlowout.com than I did in the preceding 6 months, so MY industry is NOT fucked up! LOL

EVERYONE needs to adjust and change with the times or be left behind!

The guys that want to buy BRAND NEW SETS will pay a higher price because that's what it costs AND they WANT the BRAND NEW CONTENT! It's that simple!

Can you REALLY fault a content provider for lowering his prices and putting together bulk deals on OLDER content that is NO LONGER SELLING ON HIS SITE?

Why the fuck shouldn't the content producer further monetize the content that's just laying around "figuratively" collecting dust? He'd be stupid not to ... AND he's leaving money on the table by NOT selling it!

The Ferrari example was a poor example. There are HARD costs that go into both content production and car manufacturing. Once a photo shoot is done it CAN BE sold over and over again by the same content producer.

Ferrari can only sell each automobile once ... BAD COMPARISON!

Still content market died a year ago or so ago for everyone. I recall doing $100k a month, then hard pressed to do $10k. Not even worth being in biz for $10k. I feel for those who sole income is still content. If mine was, I would be trading in my ferrari for a pinto.

This also says alot of about the state of the business, important to get as much $ out of it now as you can.

I have seen so many come and go. When companies start dropping their drawers on price then soon enough the margins are non existent and their businesses go under.

But... here are words you can take to the bank...

This has turned into an interesting topic after. Brad is never afriad to speak the truth. But the content business has not really died. It has turned into Walmart. It was sacs 5th avenue. Now it is Walmart. Still good quality, service and best of all great price. Sacs, well that is another story.
