Now where did you read that?!? I have kept my personal opinion about this kind of programs out of my replies on purpose, I merely claims he didn't do anything legally wrong. If I like what he does or not is not the issue here and my personal opinion about it is irrelevant to the thread.

I remember years and years ago (before most people with loud mouths who post here were even in this biz) when everyone was so pissed off becuase the hun linked directly to content pages of websites instead of to the entry/main pages. People screamed up and down that he was hotlinking, that it was illegal, etc. Now they're just called tgp sites.

Sorry to say, but this program is NOT doing anything illegal. Do I agree with the program? Absolutely not. But that doesn't mean it's illegal. However, attacking and taking down his site IS illegal. Not the kind of extra heat our industry needs at these times.

Not exactly. Browsers go to webpages which are licensed to present those pictures. Software like this downloads the image and presents it. They have no license to do so, therefore it is illegal, surely?

Also. You can prevent these programs from surfing your galleries using htaccess. Something to do with the http agent. Someone started a thread on GFY recently with a huge list. I can't be arsed finding it.

are you absolutely sure holding all binary files in database is a good solution?

ever tried to hold all this files outside the webserver root and just access them with script?
(it's much better and doesn't make your server load skyhigh)

funny, I never seen any shortcuts or links to any of the webmaster's galleries. You're full of shit. Sur eyouw ill sell ad space to paysites and such most likely. Burn gallery webmaster's bandwidth, and give the traffic directly to the paysite. yeah, makes real fuckign good sense. Of course paysites wont' care. That's one less affiliate to pay.

Put your website name on your pics... it's then free advertising to all his suckers.
