they just opened their first ever UK store in Harrods in London. We don't have dunkin donuts over here either so this is the first real donuts joint. On the wrong side of London for me though, I never have a reason to go there.

makefuckingmoney 10-13-2003 02:51 PM

im on a diet

Scootermuze 10-13-2003 02:57 PM

Two of my uncles worked at the first K.K. back in the 30's in N.C.
Pretty interesting to hear how they made em back then..

I just consumed a complete box, how do you think I feel?:throwup I thought it was the idea.. hehe I talked to two fat Americans in Harrods, they were covered in donut glazing, and they explained how much they liked them and actually forced me to try them out..

Hmm.. Perhaps you should check out K.K.'s History (mouseover 1937)

Don't know why Atlanta feels it's 'the invention we are most proud of'
..

Sarah! The reason to go there would BE the Krispy Kremes! :winkwink:

The closest one to me is 60+ miles away. I still have them at least once every couple of months. :)

Ludedude 10-13-2003 07:24 PM

Yep, they come out fresh by me twice a day. Whenever I drive by and that "hot doughnuts now" light is lit I'm all over that shit. They even give you a fresh hot dripping one right off the conveyor belt while you're waiting on line...Krispy Kreme r0x0rs and the stock isn't half bad to own either :thumbsup

Yep, hate to burst Rick's bubble but the original Krispy Kreme is in North Carolina, not Georgia.

I'm not sure how they make Krispy Kreme donuts where you're from but they don't come out of an oven, they come out of a deep fryer. They also make them fresh all day long, not just in the morning.

I was terribly missinformed. But Chick-Fil-A is still awesome! :1orglaugh

Ic3m4nZ 10-13-2003 08:30 PM

There's 2 Krispy Kreme now I think in Montreal and they are doing pretty well always a long fucking line to get donuts there.

If you want to invest on something good you can't go wrong with Krispy Kreme.

yeah and everytime you go they give you a free donut haha :)

even for drive-in. Each person in the car gets a free donut.

they produce like 70 donuts per min or something if they want, it's insane.

Always fresh and pretty yummy.

They gave two to my DOGS once, lol! :1orglaugh

hottoddy 10-13-2003 10:04 PM

The standard glazed (which they sell the most of) are huge rip-offs. Those suckers probably cost :2 cents: to make, and are light as a feather. Sure they taste ok, but those suckers are like warm sugared air. KK's other donuts are better but still way too $$. Find a local chink-run shop and you'll do much better.

jaYMan 10-13-2003 10:13 PM

Fuck me! I left a new six pack of KK's in the backseat of my car.

Thanks for the mind tip!

makefuckingmoney 10-13-2003 10:21 PM

I used to jerk off in the batter..keep that in mind next one you eat..

Ludedude 10-13-2003 10:24 PM

Who makes the jack sauce?

Funbrunette 10-13-2003 10:56 PM

:waaaaahh I want some Krispy Kreme RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!

I KNOW! I'm on a pre-vegas diet though and I'm trying not to break it too soon. So, I told myself that when I drop the next 10lbs I will treat myself and I will get off a train station early and walk to Harrods.

Ludedude 10-14-2003 10:03 AM

Don't bother, we have plenty of Krispy Kreme places in Vegas...I bet one of those in EU is comparable to a "Royale with cheese" in EU. Looks like the picture but tastes like ass. Save yourself for the original.

Sarah_Jayne 10-14-2003 12:06 PM

it is apparently run by one of the big guys from the states so I dunno how different it is. I'm going to belgium at the end of this month though and I only have one 'cheat' a month and as good as krispy kremes are they don't compare to real Belgian chocolate.

And don't listen to Voodooman - I offered to run an offical taste test on his family doughnuts, but he refused. Tried to tell me they wouldn't get here fresh, blah, blah, blah. I even offered to have them Delta Dashed here. :(

Peaches, How about I just fly you to Oklahoma and you can
see for yourself.

:winkwink:

teflondon 10-14-2003 12:17 PM

First cigarettes now donuts....those phillip Morris guys are evil.

They are sugar and nicotine peddlers.

Thank you Phillip!

I'm ready! I'll be sure and pack clothes which are at least 2 sizes bigger than I'm wearing now - I need to make sure I eat a large enough sample to make a fair judgement. :thumbsup

1) Locally sourced ingredients will likely taint the recipe.

2) Belgian chocolate r0x0rs. My mom is originally from there and she goes back periodically; when she gets back I always get a present. That stuff is truly sinful :thumbsup

On the subject of delicious but deadly fast food.....I vote for

IN & OUT BURGER!!!

They are amazing! I loved them in LA....a few years after I moved to AZ they opened out there and had cars lined up around the block for the first year....Now I've moved to Miami and I'm waiting for them to follow me here as well!:thumbsup

I don't really eat any of this stuff very ofter (like three times a year), but when I do......Man! In and Out Burger kicks serious ass!

Tala 10-14-2003 03:13 PM

When I went to visit family and friends in Washington back in August, there was a Krispy Kreme that had just opened up. When you went in, they gave you a free sample doughnut, fresh from the fryer.

Mmmmmmmmm......doughnuts.....
