I can understand a company making some sort of settlement with Acacia for there own good but if that settlement involves giving out there affiliate database that is total bullshit.

Where better than the source? Why track people down when you can just grab a list of all the people who push say hustler or Platyinum Bucks and target those. By theory if you bought Matrix content, all acacia would have to do is get Matrix to hand over all their records and contact all the people who bought videos from them. Seems the easiest route. |

Serve them Fletch and find out which turned you and then sue them for invasion of privay or some such. I'm sure an attorney can find some way to do it. Run up the sponsors tabs beyond what they would pay for caving in for a full price license. :winkwink:
Or small claims them (if possible) in whatever state you live in when they turn each person over. 3-5k a whack wil nickel and dime them into thinking twice before making such agreements. |
holy jesus on a bicycle!
I always thought that sponsors could NOT give out personal information, but then again they could easily change their TOS to make it all legal for them. I will be watching this thread closely and know who NOT to deal with :ak47: |
Acacia is smart people, it's the system that is fucked up.
What is this paranoia shit with being so anonymous when talking about Acacia ?? Acacia leprosa 'Scarlet Blaze' http://www.plants-magazine.com/image...pix/acacia.jpg |

hmmmm this would be a very sad turn for the industry as a whole if it turns out to be true rack your brain doll .. is there ANYWHERE else your true address is on file besides content providers and sponsors? I'm hoping the answer is yes I prefer to error on the side of caution but thinking someone that settled may have disclosed this sort of thing just doesn't sound .... oh hell i dunno, I just don't want to imagine them doing it |

Ive had a PO box since before I started in this business and have used that address for ALL my site whois, the ONLY place they got my addy was a sponsors database. And due to 'whom' it was addressed, it even dates it to a very old account, which would be again pin pointing a very small number of programs (2) so it could be them. Other than that, there is no place else. |

Great, no doubt these companies have our phone numbers from wherever they got our addy. greeeat. |

Fletch XXX, I ASSURE YOU that they are not getting ANY information from Hustler. We (WebQuest) maintain all of Hustler's affiliate information so I can personally gaurantee you that information is NOT being provided to Acacia by Hustler. Hustler settled for it's own business reasons, but Hustler will NEVER assist Acacia in going after other companies in our industry. I have a history and reputation of integrity and honesty in this business. You have my word that Hustler is not the culprit here. |

It wont be long before Acacia comes after spammers cause we send out links to websites that may provide video.
Personaly, my plan is that if they ever send me one of those letters, I will let them sue me, and beat it cause I have video nowhere, and then counter sue. |

Ok guys. I GUARANTEE you that affiliate programs lists have been used by Acacia to send out packets. I will give you an example from here in Australia. Months ago a guy came to my house with an Acacia packet. The packet was not addressed by his name, but his affiliate account name, which was somewhat obscene and he was embarrassed because he knows the people at the post office and didn't want his adult business known, and now it was out. Yes the packet was not addressed to him, his affiliate name. |
Anyone turning over info should be boycotted. I can not blame people for giving into Acacia on a business level, but turning over affiliate info is inexcusable.

and they admitted to acquiring "new patent portfolios" today ... the key to the information age is information ... they're collecting it ...
I will NOT report to Acacia
did you really think this was surprise (affiliate info) ... next they will "marketing" to your customers directly ... |

There is absolutely NO excuse for giving out affiliates' personal information without a court order. |
