Guys, reread the thread or something. It's not about greed. People donated generously for a very good reason. There's no need to tarnish this. They intend it to get to the person they were trying to help out. If you sent money, you'd feel the same way.

As far as I can tell, Tala and Brad are both good people but of course, that doesn't make for good drama or entertainment value .. thus, the numerous tangents this thread took.

GFY can be described as a wild mob. Once the shit starts falling, it's hard not to get hit. I haven't followed this story in precise detail, but it's easy to tell that people have made mistakes with words, others have misrepresented stuff, other people have taken falsehoods for fact and commented further on them. Still others have found bits and pieces funny, and responded with their own stupid comments to try to advance their humour.

I think in the near future, if someone needs help, it could best be handled in one of three different ways:

#1: Send the money directly to thier own PayPal account or whatever, skip the middle man. Problem solved.

#2: Dont send shit, hope they die. Weed out some of your competition.

#3: Just turn a blind eye to the situation.

I dontated a small amount for Tala but from now on I am using option #3. Or #2 depending on who it is needing the help :)

Just voicing an opinion, Tala made several posts regarding the money OWED to her and she could not deposit the original checks sent. Yes, she should get the money that was donated to her but maybe Brad was saving some for the charge backs that might occur since Tala was not bedridden like some were lead to believe.

Don?t know and really don?t care to know...Tala if you get your money, you might want to help out some other GFY members because you certainly don?t know how to accept a gift (donation) nor how to treat friends.

I'm sure I'm coming into this really late, but I want to have my 2 cents anyway. I haven't posted about this before but I've been upset about it for awhile.

Normally I don't talk about my personal problems, but in this case I think few enough people know me here so that it doesn't really matter. :)

I've got my own set of hard times. I'm feeling a crunch and having health problems and drowning in a sea of stuff I can't handle. I'm crushed under bills right now and I haven't got a clue how I'm going to get the money to get out from under them. It makes it even more fun when the doctor tells you that you've got to take it slower or things will only get worse.

What you haven't seen is me bitching on the boards about how rough things are for me. I've been making plans and trying out new things to try to increase my revenue and decrease my workload. I hoped my fiance would get a raise this year (after them having a freeze on them for the last 2 years) but now that's looking doubtful too. Sucks, but that's life. That's what normal every day working people go through. If it's bad enough I'll start selling stuff. If it gets worse, we'll take more drastic measures. We'll do what we need to do to get by because that's what responsible adults do. Nobody is offering me a handout because I've got tits. I'm not asking for free computer equipment and I wouldn't bitch about a few bucks that didn't get through because I'm unable to deal with my own bank.

The whole thing stinks. It upsets me greatly and makes me more than a little sick to my stomach. It's things like this that are really making me wonder what I'm doing in this business with all this bullshit around. Scams and shams abound.

The names of the donators weren't all available to her - but this is what I suspected was the case.
