Somehow I have managed to never be summoned for jury duty. I'm sure the clock's ticking for me, though. My mom is part of the prosecution for the biggest city where we live, so that might get me out of it. But my dad had to do federal a year ago, and that would be a bitch. Hour and a half drive there, one way, but he *loved* it. He's one of those types that thinks you should just be allowed to shoot criminals on the spot. :1orglaugh

Please don't say we are all eligable for jury duty at the GFY trial...

I completed my military obligation AND I've done my jury duty here in Texas. You enjoy the benefits of being a US. citizen .... shaddup, don't be a such a whining bitch, and fufill your responsibility.

I also pay a lot of fucking tax money to be ABLE to enjoy those benefits. I don't wanna hear any fucking whining about "civic duty" and all that asscob nonsense. They can pull jurors from the fucking KFC workers..... they'll probly make more on jury duty than they would at work, and not even be missed.

The major downside to living in the U.S. is that you have to be "part of the system", which includes taxes and jury duty.

I hate being part of the system... We shouldn't be forced to be patriotic. My roomie loves sitting in on trials, for instance. So instead of summoning people like amp, why can't they find a jury of people like her?

Never done jury duty. A friend of mine did though, and she had to go back 4 days in a row. She didn't get selected, and they called her back about a week later, and she had to go back for another 3 days in a row. The case she finally got selected for was settled with a plea bargain.

Must be a pain in the ass, but someone has to do it, unfortunately.

I don't look at Jury Duty as a "duty".... Half the people will go with the majority just to get the hell out of the deliberations...

This is only my personal opinion, but it seems that every day more and more of our "rights" are being chipped away at. (Censorship) IF YOU DON' T LIKE WHAT YOU SEE OR HEAR, CHANGE THE DAMN CHANNEL. It's sad that a small group of people are dicatating what the rest of us can watch, listen to and surf the internet for)... actually---it makes me sick. Drug dealers get more time in jail than child molestors..... Since 9/11, the gov't can now read our emails, tap our phones, record every move we make via our bank accounts and credit cards without a warrant... I need to stop before my blood pressure gets any higher. Twenty years from now I can see the USA being like one of those movies set in the future where you can't leave your house without scanning your ID.

I've noticed their trends..... anytime you change addresses through the Post Office forms, you will be called. Anytime you buy a house, you can expect to be called.

when I moved here, well.... right before I moved here, I got called for jury duty in Cali. Sent in my letter, and got excused. Then I moved here, and within the first week, got called again for BOTH Hawai'i and Cali. Cali called me even after I was no longer a resident! So yeah.... definately the post office change-of-addy forms are one source. And buying a house doesn't surprise me at all..... they got you pinned down then and they know it.
