Damn man, you have a coupon for those cracker jacks?

last month Fruit Loops had the same offer in the box, except with the free window sticker and decoder ring.... I couldn't pass it up.

That's a reasonable alternative to the many "designers" who think that a cool PS collage equates to design. But a design that is likely to sell needs elements to be present and placed in ways which non-designers are not even aware of.

I haven't made very big money in this business is because I retired into it, so I didn't want to be hiring employees, contractors, services, etc. But in the past I always did as little as possible, and concentrated on ideas and getting the right people to carry them out. Believe me, you make a lot more money that way.

Donovan: I think the same. Recurring on something they did is always nice.
Not to mention they will make something absolutely stellar and continue to keep their quality up for the extra cash involved.

I agree, to an extent. I am one of the self-taught, and that suits me fine because I run an amateur site, and everyone knows I do the design and everything like that myself. I am able to come up with a nifty look now and then. However, if I wanted to start making a mega site with an affiliate program (marketing to webmasters) and several tours (marketing to surfers) and make it all automatically updatable (scripting integrated), then I would definitely want to go pro, all the way. And yes, it would be worth the money. No point in doing something like that half-assed.

I've been saying for the past few months.... things are changing in the industry.

People are starting to realize that design, hosting, programing, content.... it's reached a low point. To the point where the quality is starting to match the price that's paid for it.

If people want quality work done, they need to pay for what it's worth.

The moral is: Don't pay the lowest price for the highest quantity.... because you'll get a whole lot of what you don't want.

Good idea BUT I don't see nothing good about that tour . Nothing I couldn't do in couple hours ...

I could so the same thing in about 2 hours or so.

However, I won't say anything else about Fletch's work, considering many people praise him for his converting designs.

Btw, design is something you just don't fish out of a cereal box. You have to have the talent to do so. I've seen far too many "designers" who have been designing for the past century, and still couldn't reach the professional caliber.
Anyone can design, but it won't necessarily convert or be a professional entry (as you can tell by the logo entries in some of the logo contests).

A good design company should always start a job by getting the clients domain name correct. :glugglug
