I doubt they give a shit about how much traffic they lose. I'm sure they never bought it to fool with running a counter service. They probably subtracted the cost of the purchase from the estimated amount of what they'd get for the forced downloads, liked the projected profit, and went with it. Running it in the ground was obviously part of the plan.
