Not that simple... advertisers, which are my only source of income from The Hun's, demand a 3rd party counter. Or at least demanded... I know people know the traffic is high on my site, I feel confident enough about that, but especially new advertisers do shop for sources of traffic on these counters. And I have to grant sextracker on thing, right now they're still the biggest.

It's a bit hypocrit to ban sextracker from galleries if they would still be listed on my site. Bit it's hyporit as well to allow galleries with their blind ads on there, and not to allow any other blind ads. We have a standard decline-option for people that use the bigger sextracker counter buttons... and they make the button on the sites of the #1-#3 different from the others...

So, right now I want to ban galleries with 'em, but I want to stay listed on there 'till there's another big player that can take over... which pretty much sounds like a paradox...

known for that indeed, which I why I used your board for this for a change... wouldn't it be too hypocrit not to allow 'em on galleries, but still have it on the Yellow Pages? I think it is... what would you do taking in consideration that sextracker IS a good source for us to get advertisers...

Also... isn't this a nice thing for adult.com to start? A count I mean?

I would not recommend people to click on one of the counters from sextracker ( Just click on one link on their page and it's dialer hell ) Use the backbutton and it will start over and over again.

Surfers get trapped there!
Imagine howmany daily surfers get trapped through this....

Look at only the top10 from sextracker:
+/- 9,000,000 Uniques daily

Most of the site have the counter on top of the page:
That gives the counter:+/- 38,000,000 page views daily!

Can you imagine howmuch traffic only the top10 sends them daily?

This just means that the top ten, which live in about a 100 mile circle anyway, must get together to decide on what counter will be the new industry benchmark... That would make it easiest for everybody

They don't offer their services to commercial sites. Even if you show banners on your site they kick you off. For their basic-version that is. Happened to me as well. Also, their system of counting is very easy to cheat on. They don't count uniques, their stats are tables of numbers which don't work very well (hard to see any progression with just numbers)... all in all not the best option I think...

I think you have a waitinglist of about a year with advertisers?
Advertisers should know that a listing on The Hun is worth far more then you ask for them.
The advertisers have nothing to demand. And if they dont trust your stats there is plenty of people who do.
So dont make it hard on yourself. You have tried. You have been patient. Now ban them....

You are totally right about that!
And I second your question about "isn't this a nice thing for adult.com to start? A count I mean?"

Well, a banner management system tied into the sponsors could allow one to credit the site owners for revenue generate from counter clicks. I think I'm the only one in a position to offer that as a service. Give me some time.

He answered that before, read a few posts above.

I think that mostly of tgps who use sextracker is just to get advertisers. My site is only on 160k and i added it after i passed 100k for that reason. I agree with thehun and nickbaauw, if any serious program starts a clean counter mostly of tgp owners would move to it. Adult.com has the resources for sure, mybe it could be a good bussines option for them.

Pornkings 07-01-2004 10:46 AM

Going to talk to the guys who started the counters to see how they are profitable if its a business worht getting into.

what happend to all those counters out there back in the day

Ok, Sextracker is now no longer allowed on submissions to the Yellow Pages. I also blacklisted paycounter for the exact same reason. Blind ads and dialer loads, and this time immediately after clicking their counter, which is clealy designed to make visitors believe there's some sort of movie or something...

I hope there will be a good alternative counter soon

"COUNTER courtesy of SexTracker" is still on thehun.com - isn't this MUCH worse than a sextracker on galleries? Now surfers think YOU are screwing them by sending them DIRECTLY from YOUR page to popup hell.

I don't get it....why not just DON'T click on the sextracker banner? it isn't like they're pulling a Porngraph.

I might click the sextracker banner on my page once a year if I'm bored or something. And I tell the surfers that it's a counter and there is no need to click on it.

As soon as there's a good alternative I reckon 9 of the top 10 on sextracker will move there. Right now I'm still going back and forth with advertising to see what the impact will be. Like I said before, I have to grant SexTracker one thing: they're the industry leader right now with the counter, and I know it's worth something to be #1 on their list for such a long time. The fact that we're selling ads way in advance these days helps me believe that we're not depending on the counter though...

Could you please check the first post on this topic and tell me that's not a porngraph desinged purely to make visitors click it:

he doesn't mean a porn graph.....he means the porngraph.com drama from a few weeks ago. They were adding spyware to surfers' computers. He probably ment that it's not as bad as what porngraph.com did.

Why the hell do people need a counter anyway. It seems like they care more about how many hits they get per day than how many sign up they can make.

You really shouldn't be submitting galleries to TheHun on a 30 GB hosting solution.

While I agree that many webmasters get obsessed with traffic, when it's the sales that matter. It's still important to know who is listing you and how much traffic they're sending, plus it's also useful to know something about the people who are visiting your site/gallery (eg country, browser, etc). That's why you need a counter or server-based tracking solution. :2 cents:

Isn't sexlist run by the sextracker guys as well? Personally I love sexlist. Although they have their problems, I can actually see hits to pages and referers etc.

The problem with MasterStats is that they use escape and unescape in their script. I don't know about other people, but that triggers "cheater" flags in my scanner and thus the galleries usually get deleted. It would be too easy for a cheater to hide some crap in the masterstats code.

The Hun, you really don't need the counter.
All of the people who are into buying gallery traffic know you're the biggest, and newbies are mainly the only people who will be "impressed" by seeing your ranking (and quite frankly, newbies aren't the ones making you money)

If I were you, I'd dump sextracker, but that's just me ;)

I think so.. I vaguely remember something a year or two ago about being bought by sextracker.... The owners seem different in the WHOIS info but it's the same address... They also appear to have xxxcounter.com
