50 fucktards. There were no zombies in 28 Days Later. Not one. Now go kill yourself.

28 Days Later was NOT a zombie movie...
but yes, Fulci's zombies ruled, especially in Gates of Hell and Zombie (shark vs. zombie is one of my favorite movie moments of all time)

I agree. Zombie is one of the finest films ever made. :thumbsup It's a shame that it isn't more widely known.

Dawn of the dead have to be better than 28 days later. It scared the living hell out of me, when that little girl started going crazy at the beginning of the movie.

yeah, it's also a shame Fulci isn't more well know outside of horror circles ...but I've been trying to do my best and "educate" people by having them sit through Zombie, especially the splinter and the eyeball scene ;-)

SykkBoy 08-07-2004 10:26 PM

even though 28 Days Later is not a zombie movie, I liked it better than the DOTD remake....
I actually liked the second half with the military guys but hated the cheesy happy ending (I preferred the darker, alternative ending)

I wouldn't waste my time. We live in a world where people actually liked the movie Jeepers Creepers and where people think that the infected in 28 Days Later were zombies. Trying to educate them about Fulci would be like like trying to teach your dog German or showing your grandma how to use email - it just won't work.

You stopped the move half way to post here and find out others opinions ? :)

ahem, I own both Jeepers Creepers movies on DVD and they sit next to my Fulci, Argento, Franco, Lenzi and D'amato dvd's and videos ;-)

(of note: I stopped collecting D'amato when he started doing only softcore/hardcore porn flicks ;-))

That scene was fantastic. Seems like there is one classic scene in all of his flicks, e.g., the electric drill through the brain in 'The Gates of Hell.' He dies recently, unfortunately. But he was one of the best horror film directors of all time.

The only negative thing about Fulci is all the time I have wasted over the years watching HORRIBLE Italian non-Fulci zombie movies trying to find a jewel like 'zombie'. There is NOTHJING worse in the world than a bad Italian zombie movie.

You are right. Technically, they weren't zombies. They were infected with some virus. But they were dead and they took bites out of humans so you really can't blame people for drawing the comparison.

I hear ya there
only thing worse is when those damn spanish pricks keep trying to make new Blind Dead movies...the original trilogy rocked, they need to let the Blind Dead rest in peace now.....

I was actually at the convetnion where Fulci appeared to give his final interview before he died and it was amazing...when I got to meet him afterwards and shake his hand, I almost went into hysterics like those boyband groupies....

The thing about Fulci was that he always got the MOST out of his budget. He is the master of how to make great special effects with little of no money. I have seen movies with five times the budget of Fulci's films with HORRIBLE special effects.

By special effects, I specifically mean the 'gore scenes'.

yeah, Fulci also had the balls to do what no one else would do (shark vs. zombie in Zombie, the girl puking her guts in Gates of Hell). He wasn't afraid to look cheesy and always played it with a straight face...today's movie directors try to be clever with too many winks and nods and it's harder to take it seriously...

I've often had to defend myself on other boards, movie boards, at home and amonsgt family and friends for at least a couple titles in my collection ;-)

I remember trying to explain "Gore-met Zombie Chef From Hell" to my mother once...

Speaking of BAD zombie movies. Avoid 'House of the Dead' (2003) AT ALL COSTS! It is BY FAR the worst piece of filmmaking I have ever seen.

Strife 08-07-2004 11:03 PM

Damn..people actually liked Jeepers Creeepers. That's one of the only movies I WANTED the main characters to die because their dumber than your typical horror movie victims.

Holly 08-07-2004 11:08 PM

I would just like to say that Jeepers Creepers part one was the scariest and best film ever made, of the entire horror genre.

Thank you.

I totally agree
total piece of shit and believe me, my collection is far from academy award material ;-)

I have a bunch of videos that were shot on fucking betacams that were better than this garbage...

yeah, but I have a deep affection for movies like that...a bunch of buddies drinking, smoking weed, etc. trying to make a movie...

Have you ever seen the documentary "American Movie" about the guy in Wisconsin that was making the horror movie "The Coven"?

There are SO many ways that movie can be trashed. For example, the acting was terrible. But the worst thing was all the shitty computer effects. My 10 year old nephew could have done a better job with those.

Frankly, I'm surprised that movie found a distributor. I saw it on fucking pay per view cable and was tempted to call and demand a refund.

I wish movie distributors would be a little more like Book publishers. I mean if the film doesn't even have a fucking plot ...... :feels-hot

There is a big cult following for really bad movies. Some of them are so fucking bad that they are actually worth watching, if that makes any sense.

Actually, yes, you are right. This one is even worse (much worse) than Jeepers Creepers. They should kill the fuckers that put this one out.

Holly - If you liked this one let me know and I'll send you the DVD. :1orglaugh

Totally! It was better at the beginning when they were introducing the characters (and it was BAD then). After a while, I got the impression that the film makers just got bored with the movie and crapped out an ending. It is a completely atrocious piece of crap. :1orglaugh

yup and I am one of those types

I live for bad, wooden dialog, cheesy rubber monsters, blood, boobs, bombs, etc.
Plan 9 From Outer Space is my Citizen Kane

that being said, I don't like all crappy movies (like House Of The Dead or Wolf with Jack Nicholson)

A good bad movie should still entertain me...

Holly 08-07-2004 11:35 PM

So it's a TOTAL piece of shit, you say? Totally sux ass? Not any good? Subpar and obsolete?

Hmmm...

I agree. Really bad movies are likable because we know that the people who made them were actually trying to make good movies.

I don't kbnow what the people who made House of the Dead (2003) were trying to do. I have the feeling that drugs were involved along the way.

'Wolf' was technically a good movie. it has a plot. You can't compare it to 'House of the Dead'.

I didn't like it because my expectations were too high. I can envision a MUCH BETTER movie with Jack Nicholson playing a werewolf than 'Wolf'.

Wolf sucked ass. It seemed like they ran the trailers for 6 months before it came out. I couldn't wait to see it. I forced my boyfriend to take me the night it opened and he so didn't want to. And then it sucked. I never heard the end of it. :1orglaugh

I *loved* Witches of Eastwick, though. I could watch that over and over and never get tired of it. I actually like Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer together. I don't know why Wolf was so shitty. :(

pxxx 08-08-2004 12:51 AM

28 days was a little boring, cant belieive i stayed and watched that whole movie.
