what about buying links from high PR sites?
I used this strategy for about 1.5 year and now i see that google is successful with blocking PR transfers from high sites to lower sites recently.
Whats your advice on this?

Is anonynimity through a registrar important? I.e is it safe / smart ot register all domains through 1 central registrar. Is using the anonyminity add on in this registration worthwhile also?

Crash is away to his bed :)

I won't go into detail about registrars, but it has been suggested that se's have actually moved to probing the whois info on domains when checking backlinks.

Clickhappy there's plenty of good seo forums on the net where you can get a good knowledge base to learn from :)

But your on-site optimization should have conisdered the following:

Keyword Density & Keyword Placement in <title></title>

Keyword Density, Placement and Description in <meta name="description" content="">

In the body text, things to note are also Keyword Density, Placement, Links, Alt tags, Contextual Relevancy, <b>, <i> and heading tags!

Those are some considerations you need ake into account etc!!

You'll find more info in seo forums :)

AMEN. I couldn't be happier with RSS.

Okay, really old thread but since new questions are being posed ... and Crash's 1-hour limit is long over ...

From what I've read they may be looking but not yet using the data specifically towards ranking. But be on the safe side: If you own a network of sites and are inter-linking like mad, re-register, move to new IP blocks and if possible to hosts spread across the globe.

Who can say they are and they aren't, google possible updates their algo x-number off times a month, maybe it's included into their algo as a spot to look at etc.

Personally I don't run my own little link network but if I did or was going to then yep I would make sure every domain in the network was on a different host!

There was a site listed for rentals, which used this method too great success.

I don't understand, what does RSS have to do with SEO?
In what why are you using it?
I thought it was for surfers to use to check when there are updates to their favourite blogs.

RSS can be used for any type of content: headlines, articles, anything. if you want to have a site that displays dynamic, topical content, RSS is the way to go.

So RSS is used to manage content for many sites from a single location?
Is GoogleBot reading the RSS feeds and indexing them?

that's what RSS is typically used for. ever used my.yahoo.com? that aggregates headlines from many news sources using RSS. you go to that site, and you see the headlines in real time. like my site - hornybloggers. every so often, i poll all the blogs that have signed up with me for new headlines. if they have new headlines, i display them. yes, googlebot like this very much.

RSS has many uses with regards to seo, as mentioned in previous posts with my.yahoo and sydicating feeds, it can be used more powerfully than simply for feeds etc etc!

Errm I would say the block of PR was due to the fact that people were selling PR when google kicked in the monthly pr updates, I think this was one of the reasons why they went back to a quartely update on pr!

Try and get good anchor text links from sites more relevant to your site, if you can afford it, push for some directory listings with your site too, $200 - $300 can buy you a years spot on some good directories. :)

radical 05-23-2005 09:04 PM

Here's a good site with a relative good break-down of some of the top directories: http://www.best-web-directories.com/ :)
