Not if it was done correctly. If you require payment by credit card or debit card or certain other means, even if its for small money, it identifies people. The way tgps try to control fraud now by banning domains etc is just stupid and always has been. Its the PEOPLE who need to be banned. Otherwise you are just wasting time, both yours and honest submitters.
I dont understand why Patrick and other industry leaders havent gotten together and formed some type of system for a submitters permit or something similar. Most other tgps and possibly linklists too would quickly begin to require it because identifying people is the only real way to cut down the cheating by any significant amount. Banning domains, ip ranges, and even registrars is bullshit and doesnt work very well anyway. And does the hun have all of his banned info posted anywhere? No. You probably have people submitting for months and not having any idea their registrar is banned. This is just more bullshit from the tgps which will affect honest people more than anyone else. And like most of the other methods they use to deal with cheating, it wont work.

You're absolutely right that honest webmasters will get hit hard .. and do get hit hard by this. Cheating hurts everyone.

And as a submitter I hate to say this ... but why should a TGP webmaster take all the time and resources to work out the "perfect system" for indentifying submitters etc. ???

Personally, I want to spend my time building traffic and profiting. When I list submitted galleries I'm giving away free traffic .. sure it helps make my bookmarkers happy but there are alternatives even if it means slightly more work.

The fact is I don't have the time or the patience to deal with BS .. so I just won't. I've gone partner only and if my partners start cheating on me then fuck it .. if they can't play honest they won't play at all .. I'll go FHG only .. I've already got a DB with over 1k of FHG gals .. it would simply take one click to delete all submitted gals from my TGPs.

And I'm sure I'm not the only TGP owner who feels that way and would do similar.

Mainly because it would save them a lot of time and aggravation in the long run. I can only imagine what a hassle it is for guys like the hun to deal with all the fucktards out there, i wonder how many hours he and his staff waste every week dealing with it. Your point is well taken about saying fuck it and going completely partner or fhg, thats for sure what i would do too. And in the huns case you know he could sell every single spot everyday for damn nice money. You and i would probably agree that the benefits he gets from accepting public submissions isnt worth the hassle, but he obviously thinks different and thats his right. My point is, if you are gonna do that then why not do it right? It should be obvious after all these years that banning domains and similar stuff doesnt work very well. As a tgp owner, forget about fairness and convenience for submitters, just from your own standpoint, if you take public submissions the type of system i suggested would save you a lot of time and trouble. Some major players like the hun, shemp, and others could get together and establish such a system, which would pay for itself and solve a lot of problems. It wouldnt be perfect, but the way things are done now arent worth a damn for either owners or honest submitters. But you know who it IS good for, because there sure are a lot of them out there.

that's a bunch of BS..

cheaters have proven time and time again they have the ability to constantly change.

what the whois If is banned? hell that's as easy to make up as a new domain name..

What IP and domain banned? hell they get new class C's and new domains daily

what, name server banned?, they get new name servers daily

so your gallery looks the same or it has the same referral Id? No problem for a cheat.. he'll just steal someone else's.

So now it's the registrar that's banned.. whoa that's a hard one, damn guess they will just have to give up now.. Oh wait.. how longs that take now with the new quicker update times? probably 30 mins and a new domains is new to go. Yep that solved a lot.

Goose 09-29-2004 03:26 AM

wow that's some bad news...

Why should webmasters make it easier for potential psycho/stalkers to find their home address? That's especially dangerous for female webmasters and those with children at home. :2 cents:
