funniest thing is that all of jay's critics in this thread don't know who jay is....lol

i'm not kissing ass, btw.

plain and simple, Bush's record both in politics and in business over the years has been embarassing and disasterous.

if he is relelected and takes us to war with a few more countries he will be bringing our nation to its demise.

how the fuck can we spend 100s of billions of dollars on a not-needed war effort when we struggle to muster up a few billion for education?

xxxjay 09-30-2004 06:01 PM

You know what - I almost didn't post this thread. Now, I am so glad that I did.

I'm off to watch the debates.

Jay, we just made a nice link exchange. Personally, I'd hate to see it go over political reasons, but I support Bush (although I'm not an American citizen and I'm not eligible to vote in the US), and I don't intend to hide it.

I wouldn't want to mix business with political opinions, and I hope you don't remove my links because of this.

He has not said he was pulling from one and giving to the other. He said that anyone who "openly supports Bush..." I believe the outcome of the election (if in Bush's favor) will certainly cause more issues for the world as a whole, I can't vote him out, but I can support those that try!!

Here's to your crusade Jay :glugglug

Now excuse me while I watch the rest of this debate.

So you would remove all of your topbucks links if someone from there said they liked Bush? You would get rid of the $20,000+/- you get from them per month because of their political views?

(personally, I do not support Bush, nor am I an American, but I just wanted to be clear what you're trying to say)

While I'm not sure I'd make the same decision on this specific issue, I applaud Jay for taking a stand publically.

I'm pro Kerry, but I'd have the same level of grudging admiration for a Pro Bush webmaster who made a similar decision, based on principle.

It actually doesn't matter if it's good business or not, as that's not the issue at hand. Everyone has that one area they wouldn't compromise on. For Jay, this is it. Good for him.

A company like that would have the sense to realize what Bush means to this business. There isn't one serious program owner who has publicly supported Bush as far as I've seen.

WiredGuy 09-30-2004 08:08 PM

Much respect Jay for this political statement, I love seeing politics play a part in business decisions like this :)

Bush is a conniving fucker. Did anyone notice how all the fuss about the 2257 regs sort of dropped off the radar? They?ve been delayed till after the elections because?

BUSH DOES NOT WANT TO LOSE YOUR VOTE!!

Same thing with the assault weapons ban. Was it a band idea to let it expire? Sure it was, but think about all of those yummy votes that he?s gonna get from the NRA people!

I can believe this straight ticket voting morons are too dumb to see that!

I make 20K a month with topbucks and if you look in this thread you will see where Ali (VP of Topbucks) supported me on this. That's why I do business with them - they are SMART PEOPLE.

Voting for Bush while being in this business is like giving a gun to a person that want s to kill you. It's just dumb.

Actually, what you said was:

"What you are proposing is COMPLETERLY ANTI-AMERICAN. If you are an American citizen, you should be utterly ashamed of yourself for trying to influence voters by blackmailing them with threat of loss of traffic."

Not a personal attack on you, I just disagree strongly with what you said earlier.

Do you think the fucking democrats are going to embrace the industry? I have news for ya, pal. NO ONE LIKES PORN SLINGERS, and NOONE (DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN) IS GOING TO DEFEND US. You think we would have had a free ride under Gore with his fanatical wife? You're fucking dreaming.

Exactly.

Hell, I've been listening to Stern a lot lately - he doesn't give a fuck - he devotes his whole show to getting rid of Bush. That is someone who is putting his career on the line to stand up for what he believes in. Not that I am where he is at, but a least I am willing to do more than just flap my gums about it.

Rich 10-01-2004 04:32 AM

For the misinformed souls who don't realize just how bad Bush is for this industry compared to Kerry:

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/bal...home-headlines

Quote:

WASHINGTON - Lam Nguyen's job is to sit for hours in a chilly, quiet room devoid of any color but gray and look at pornography. This job, which Nguyen does earnestly from 9 to 5, surrounded by a half-dozen other "computer forensic specialists" like him, has become the focal point of the Justice Department's operation to rid the world of porn.

In this field office in Washington, 32 prosecutors, investigators and a handful of FBI agents are spending millions of dollars to bring anti-obscenity cases to courthouses across the country for the first time in 10 years. Nothing is off limits, they warn, even soft-core cable programs such as HBO's long-running Real Sex or the adult movies widely offered in guestrooms of major hotel chains.

Department officials say they will send "ripples" through an industry that has proliferated on the Internet and grown into an estimated $10 billion-a-year colossus profiting Fortune 500 corporations such as Comcast, which offers hard-core movies on a pay-per-view channel.

The Justice Department recently hired Bruce Taylor, who was instrumental in a handful of convictions obtained over the past year and unsuccessfully represented the state in a 1981 case, Larry Flynt vs. Ohio.

Flynt, who recently opened a Hustler nightclub in Baltimore, says everyone in the business is wary, making sure their taxes are paid and the "talent" is over 18. He says he's ready for a rematch, especially with Taylor.

"Everyone's concerned," Flynt said in an interview. "We deal in plain old vanilla sex. Nothing really outrageous. But who knows, they may want a big target like myself."

A recent episode of Showtime's Family Business, a reality show about Adam Glasser, an adult film director and entrepreneur in California, had him worrying about shipping his material to states more apt to prosecute. It also featured him organizing a pornographic Internet telethon to raise money for targets of prosecution.

Drew Oosterbaan, chief of the division in charge of obscenity prosecutions at the Justice Department, says officials are trying to send a message and halt an industry they see as growing increasingly "lawless."

"We want to do everything we can to deter this conduct" by producers and consumers, Oosterbaan said. "Nothing is off the table as far as content."
HALT AN INDUSTRY.

Nothing is off the table as far as content.

Get it now guys? So boobmaster, 12dicks and the rest of you suckers please stop spreading the lie that Kerry will be as bad for this business as Bush. That's insane. I know most of your talking points are baseless but that one is so ass backwards it just makes you guys look stupid.

Nice post. Sure Kerry would not help us out, but I'm sure he would pick a way less conservative AG than Asshat - in fact almost anyone would be a better choice. Look at Janet Reno with the Clinton administration - she refused to touch us because she didn't want to fuck with free speech. Anyone who says it will all be the same is a moron.
