There is no law in Canada that says an adult can have sex with a 12 year old.

But they can marry them if their pregnant.. check cannon law :) One would assume that if she's pregnant, she had to have sex first. Unless sales of turkey basters have increased radically in the last few years? It's semantics really.. I wouldn't be happy with my daughters dating an older guy, but we can only set them the guidelines to live their life by, we can't live it for them. There comes a point in time when you have to respect a person's decision, be that person older or younger, to do with their life what they will. I would try to GUIDE my children in the right direction if a situation like this happened, but when it all comes down to it, they're going to do it anyways. You can only hope for the best, right?

Not really, the law is pretty clear in Canada that an adult cannot have sex with a child under 14 regardless of the circumstances.

I still think that an adult having sex with a 16 year old is a pedophile but I do recognize it is legal.
