After reading through many of the posts on this subject, I am sickened by many of the responses. The terrible incident at the WTC is not nor should it ever become a justified reason for promoting racism.

When Timothy McVie bombed Oklamhoma City, did you all post on the board that all white anglosaxons be rounded up and shot or otherwise eliminated. I'm guessing probably not. This is no different.

The type of racist thought patterns many of you are demonstrating are exactly the thought patterns which the terrorist groups use to justify destroying "the evil American". There is no distinction in the terrorists eyes between the actions of the US gov't and the U.S on a whole.

Yes, the terrorist organisations responsible should be "put out of business". But it has to stop there. A faction of a race does not define the ideals of the entire race.

We are all angry about this tragedy, but please let intelligence and not pure emotion run our lives.

If a few people want to vent a little on this board, I say let them. It is also their right to find ways of venting, and it is most unfair of you or anyone to sit in judgement and assume the moral ground, especially when the enemy we now all face is one that is more elusive and dangerous than any in history. It is and will be very frustrating times for some people to find solace in getting some justice served, so a little latitude is called for.

Okay, I know for a fact that this exact point of yours has been dealt with to death on this and other threads over and over. The fact that you are again bringing it up tells me that, although you say you've read over the entire thread, I think maybe you missed some of the proverbial boat.

Where you see racism, I see hatred of a specific faction of one race. I do value your words in the regard that they may serve to temper the severity here, but I don't begrudge anyone using the term "arab" in the context they are using it. Again, the general consensus here is that all or most of the terrorists we've all come to know and hate are of Arabic descent, thus people are using the term for convenience sake. Since a lot of "Arabs" tend to wear some form of towelage upon their brows, the term "towel-head" or "rag-head" comes into play, again pertaining to the enemy, NOT innocent civilians.

I'll ask again, can you bring yourself down out of the clouds and offer some leeway for otherwise powerless people to vent some anger in their own way? Hey, I too draw the line at anyone saying things like "I'll kill the next Arab that walks by me" or anything. That is just plain wrong-thinking. Anyone that grabs a cabbie and beats the shit out of him just for looking like an Arab is just plain wrong. But talking about the ENEMY of the USA in this fashion is tolerable in my book.

I wondered about that myself. I recently saw a piece of Canadian news reporting where, in Norhern Ireland (Belfast?) there was a new Catholic grade school built. A large group of Catholic school children were on their way to school and had rocks thrown at them and verious horribly obsene words pelted at them as well. Some small girls and boys were bleeding and crying after then incident, and none of them reached the school, they all had to be recalled back to wherever they started out from.

The ignorance of some adults in Ireland, the absolute ignorance, is so.... astonishing in it's severity. I do hope that all terrorists in the UK are hunted down and imprisoned (or worse), the needless fighting over the past 30+ years is endless and senseless.

Okay, if you would prefer to surrender, what if the enemy brought you before a firing squad and asked you to denounce all that you believe in or die? My point is, is your life worth so much that nothing else matters? Do you pledge allegiance to the enemy just so you can keep on eating, sleeping and shitting for a few more years? When does it become worth it to stand up and defend the freedom we hold so dear to us at all costs?

It's fine to value peace, I do as much as anyone, but in times like this I value the fact that our countries have some military clout as well. If the time ever came that I myself (old as I am) were needed to pull the trigger a few times for our freedom, I gladly would in a second.

As a side-note, a funny thing happens when you choose to believe in a higher power.... you become less afraid to die for your beliefs and you trust in something larger than yourself. Ex: point a gun in MY face and tell me to renounce MY beliefs, and guess what? I'll tell you to go fuck yourself.
