It does invoke some powerful memories of waking up that morning. I got the coffee going and then hit GFY, and this was the first thread I opened (when it was on page 2 or so), turned on CNN and the rest is history.

Btw, this thread is proof that there was a time on this board when ONE thread was good enough for an important topic such as this. Nowadays when something big happens you have 25 different threads on it within seconds.

What a brilliant piece of History this thread is.

When you read it just the reply's detail exactly the way it happened emotionally.

A day never to forget cause it is the day that changed the world forever.

It didn't stay on page 2 for long..it was a case of people not reading it as first but once they did and got that it wasn't a joke (remember the WTC had been attacked before in previous years) then this thread became the main thread of the board for a while.

Though, I do remember there being a few other threads on the topic but they were all on different aspects of the same story.

I remember looking from high inside Tower One, watching Tower two rise from the ground in the early 70's at my Godfather's AT&T Company Christmas party.

RIP.

My now husband was on the PATH train platform in Harrison waiting to go to the WTC when the first plane hit. Thank god he was running late that day.

Both of us lost a few dear friends that day.

seeric 09-10-2008 11:03 PM

the actual time is roughly 835 am no?

the only reason i remember that is i was dropping one of the djs we booked to play our club off at the airport and he called me about half hour later and said that the entire airport was shut down and locked down and i had to go pick him up.

i was stuck with him for a week, staying at my house and partying for 7 days.

lol.

tony286 09-10-2008 11:09 PM

nico-t 09-11-2008 07:06 AM

did they catch bin laden?

o yea they retaliated by going war with iraq.

uhm..... what? Somethings off...

i wonder how americans feel about their government not being able to catch the one who was behind this 7 years later. They dont even try.

Zebra 09-11-2009 12:11 AM

Another 9/11, another year Bin Laden is still laughing his ass off in a cave.

Never Forget.

The Duck 09-11-2009 12:16 AM

God time's flying...I remember that day like it was yesterday. :(

I realize there was probably shitloads of 9-11 threads back then and GFY may have had a fraction of the activity or whatever, but this is 13 pages and shitty drama threads and contest threads have more pages here. Amazing but I guess not surprising.

RIP victims and hope the families have been doing better since.

JustDaveXxx 09-11-2009 02:09 AM

Didnt read the 13 pages, but this one is so true on the first page.
Btw. i saw a movie yesteday, fictionial where the present sat with his advisors talking about beginning a war against terrorism. And they "discussed" the europeans as if they where the ignorant kids that had to be convinced.

Somehow that made me feel bad.

Verbal 09-11-2009 04:45 AM

Can't believe it's been 8 years already.

Altwebdesign 09-11-2009 04:54 AM

8 years, the time has passed so quickly!
I'll never forget coming home from school and seeing those images on the news.

~ Always Remember ~

GregE 09-11-2009 05:05 AM

I remember everything about that day like it was yesterday including even the weather which, inappropriately enough, was absolutely perfect.

The world will never again be as it was before.

tranza 09-11-2009 05:43 AM

I remember that like it was yesterday...still too sad!

DWB 09-11-2009 06:01 AM

More people die from starvation a day than were killed in 9-11. While it IS sad, there are many other mass murders and issues that deserve a day more than this. The US Military has slaughtered, in cold blood, more civilians abroad than were killed in 9-11, x 100, and continue to do so, with no day of remembrance.

Get a grip.

~ Always Remember ~ isn't just about our own people that have fallen.

And most mass murders are marked with some day of remembrance... just like wars, all over the world.

Ad3pt 09-11-2009 06:36 AM

Never forget. I hope today reminds people how the country came together, unlike the state it's in today. Say no to big government.
