I dont think that having AC registered is going to make it ok to try and stop other people from using it. if so, then accountants will from now on be countants. etc. That is absurd!

Not to mention that fact that all the Air conditioning companies in the US will have to remove AC from their vans, advertisments and business.

A trademark is a word, phrase, symbol or design, or a combination of words, phrases, symbols or designs, that identifies and distinguishes the source of the goods of one party from those of others. Just because AC is trademarked in one industry does not mean someone cannot trademark it in another industry. You also, do not have to register a trademark to own it but it is a good idea to. If you do register a trademark and somebody is already using it in your industry even though you registered it they will end up with the trademark if they can show use of the mark before your registration date for the mark.

ACDelco does not compete with ACmoviepass so both would be valid. AC in alternating current would have been a patent not a trademark as patents are used to protect your rights for the creation of an item.
