Before I started working in adult I worked for a multi-millionaire who used to come to work in 8 year old shirts and eat a sack lunch his wife made for him so he wouldn't have to spend money on lunch. fyi, a $40 bottle of vodka will cost you $300+ at certain clubs/ultralounges and a $100 bottle of Champagne will easily cost you $1000+. Not unheard of... you're paying for private booths, vip treatment, etc. That's the #2 reason people open nightclubs/lounges... huge profit margin... #1 reason is the "wash"... nuff said. :)

It's hard to say exactly why he's staying in the relationship. I somehow doubt he feels validated when he's essentially being stalked, refused 'permission' to leave the house, et al... but you do have a point. It takes two to be in a relationship like this.
