I go to the grocery store twice a week. I've spent time in europe, getting groceries is not the chore it is over here. It's actually a lot of fun to hit 3 stores in 10 mins and be back in the apartment cooking dinner with absolutely fresh foods :)

I freeze a lot of food. For convenience and financial savings - buying meat in bulk really saves me nearly $75 a month (I eat a lot of meat). I also buy frozen raw prawns, shrimp and scallops. I dislike previously frozen fish, it makes the texture kinda mushy. I prefer fresh seafood, but only eat it once or twice a week.

But, I dont believe freezing food can change the structure of the cells or some crap and make the food unhealthy for you. And canned veggies, while they taste nasty, are actually full of more vitamins then most *fresh* veggies we get in the supermarket. Simply because canned and frozen veggies are canned or frozen at the peak of the season, whereas the fresh veggies in the supermarket are picked just before the peak and shipped for quite a long period of time... ever notice that most veggies in the supermarket have to be eaten within a day or two or they go bad?

I plan on growing some veggies this year to see if I can taste the difference. But its just for fun :)

Umm... that's my real account. What can I say? I suppose you could say
I had some issues with relationships in the past.. I am sure everyone has issues/problems in their relationships that require some work. Nothing is perfect.

If it was someone else I might find it funny too, but unfortunately I don't
because it's me.

Thanks, a couple of those I had not seen before.

Phogirl... if even half of what's in these threads is true you are in one serious rut with this twit boyfriend of yours. He obviously wasn't spanked enough as a child or had major issues with his parents in some way because everything you say about the guy points to him being a spoiled little self-indulgent jerk with a poor attitude towards women and a rather disquieting volatile temper. In the thread where you said he got physically rough with you I believe I advised you to dump him and take back your life, and here you are months lateer with yet another complaint.

Stop being a victim.

I am not with him anymore. This topic is about someone else.

I do, and it is very annoying.

So... I'm not sure I understand you here. Did you dump the previous twit and are now with another twit?

Why the affinity for twits? :upsidedow

I hope the problems with this guy are all about food and not some of the stuff in those other threads. Personally I couldn't live with such a picky eater, as I like to share the things I love with someone. Vegans and vegetarians drive me nuts, I love sharing a nice barbecue and some good wine with the woman I'm with, not someone who hates everything I love.

AMEN :thumbsup

L0stMind 04-17-2005 06:41 PM

Speaking of sharing, my fiancee and I are sharing bbq steak, jambalaya a salad in 10 mins :)

CDSmith 04-17-2005 06:42 PM

And another thing. With regard to freezing meat, freezing is done to preserve food, not make it less palatable. Tell your boyfriend that in his quest for "fresh" meat he is defeating his own purpose, because fresh meat has actually been exposed to air longer than food which was instantly frozen upon being butchered. I have fish filets in the freezer right now that my brother caught at his lake months ago, and once thawed they are as fresh and bacteria-free as the moment he fileted them. No peddler of unfrozen seafood can lay the same claim, unless he's buying it as it's pulled from the water and cooking it right away.

His thinking is all wrong. Sorry.

People like what they like, if you think it is an issue, tell him. Whining here won't change anything.

reynold 04-17-2005 06:50 PM

I don't, thank God.

bhutocracy 04-17-2005 06:52 PM

Yeah.. if it's a big enough issue just part ways. I wouldn't date a chick that ate meat. It's just not worth the hassle.. same way i wouldn't date a republican chick that only liked country music. The things you like are part of who you are, the more aligned they are the less problems you're going to have.

I have to seperate my food so its not touching, pick out any onions, peppers, etc. I also eat the food in a certain order. I bug a lot of people out at dinner. People like to laugh at my eccentricities. heh

L0stMind 04-17-2005 09:03 PM

it's alright to be eccentric, but I have to ask - do you have a reason for eating this way uno?

Vitasoy 04-17-2005 09:15 PM

I'm the picky eater in my family.. But I'm not as picky as your bf.
