I really don't usually read the whole thread of many of any posts at GFY as they are usually gibberish - This however is a good thread that has some great arguments about a topic I LOVE.

MMA is an amazing sport, up until a year ago I watched every UFC/PRIDE for 3 years consistently and rented the older ones I hadn't seen. Unfortunately I haven't watched the last year... This and it being brough up a few weeks ago has more than renewed my interest - I was curious about the Liddel/Corture fight... And to be honest not suprised Chuck won, more than anything because Corture is just getting old. How long can someone like him fight at that level without age becoming a factor?

I think the sport has evolved so dramatically in the last 5-6 years compared to how it used to be that boxing will be a god damn joke by the time all of our kids are adults and will be looked at as we view wrestling right now. Maybe not QUITE that low, but it will be viewed as less of a gauge of a fighter's ability and a world class boxer (Heavy-Weight) against a Light Heavyweight UFC champ would still be something where the odds would be skewed heavily towards the UFC champ.

That said, the one thing that bothers me about the UFC as of late... and I haven't followed it much is I felt Tito
A) Threw that match against Corture
B) Got so over-cocky that he lost under-estimating Corture
C) Had such a street brawler fashion to him the lack of MMA started to show

Opinions?

Oh, and why allude over and over and over to the 3rd degree BB questions. Simply say you mis-stated it and let it go. I am curious as to why you continue to avoid the subject like a plague and don't take you seriously nor will I until you answer it.

Oh, and you can all kick my ass - hahahahahahaah .... :pimp

It's obvious Danza has delusions of granduer. He believes if he keeps talking enough about what he can do, people might actually believe him.

Let's step away from the discussion of who would win in a fight between a trained fighter and a street fighter. This is what DD wants to take away from people asking about his credentials.

Each time he was asked to back up his claim of being a third degree black belt, he ignored the request. This is very telling to me. Later in this thread, he called the Gracie Academies "Dojos" which was also very telling.

It's easy to just keep on saying "I'll put 50k on it!" when you know deep in your heart the fight will never materialize. Now, Danza, please provide the name of the person who certified you in your third degree black belt or please shut the fuck up.

why all the concern abut who and where? if you wanna roll with me we will roll around have a good time and go pimp whores afterwords.... who what and where is not the talk in this thread... would not matter if I got trained by tyrone on a street corner who was trained by a guy named james from another street corner..... like I said if you don't belive me then don't.... my name was on the list that someone showed earlier I am not ever going to give my real name ON gfy.. 98% of people don't even know my real name and I tend to keep it that way I have a family and I piss on girls for a living.. may not be to safe to give my real name... like I said above I will let the mat do the talking.. no more no less and leave it at that...

yeah no shit.... lightst out for a long while if I get one of those power punches landed on me...I cringe thinking of one landing on me

Ok, don't list your name.....just list who trained you.

Of course you don't want to do that. Then your elaborate ruse will be found out and you won't be able to continue this fantasy discussion about fighting Kimbo.

There's the list of known 3rd Degree BB in BJJ, that you said you were on.

Unless you are Brazillian, you aren't on that list.

I've checked the 3 or 4 non brazillians on there, they aren't you, since most of them have pictures. It takes alot to just make blue belt in BJJ, 3rd Degree BB status is god like for BJJ'ers. Ryron and Rener Gracie, Dig's present and my former instructors are 3rd Degree BB's. My current instructor Mauricio Villardo is a 1st Degree BB under Royler Gracie, he's been training since 15 and just got his belt in 1997.

BJJ is one of the few and last real Martial Arts where we don't have fake Black Belts like Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu, whatever. Your belt signifies your level. At the level you say you are, you would be known in the BJJ circles. When I visited my family in San Diego, I made it a top priority to train with Roy Harris, one of the men listed as a 3rd BB. If you were at his level, you would make me look like a kid who just learned how to crawl.

Some very talented grapplers are not BJJ trained. It doesn't mater, but trying to look good by saying you are something you aren't, well, that doesn't put you in a good light.

I'm done for the night. If you do make the fight, I'll work your guard with you, but I'll also be the first to tell you if you aren't ready for him.

As far as all the new UFC's being a joke I can't reply. As I said I haven't seen it in over a year where they were starting to make grand gestures about the explosion of the UFC and it became much more of a bragging pedestal every event I watched - But hey those guys SHOULD be making 10X what boxers make. The last few boxing matches I watched there is NO WAY those guys should have the pay days they got. The worst UFC fights I saw blew the average boxing match out of the water. Anyone who can say otherwise is NOT a man.

If you are talking about the UFC 1-2 years ago I disagree STRONGLY, and I can't emphasize the word "strongly" enough. What Tito did for the UFC, regardless of his stature or what die hard fans think of him now or then... Is comprable to what... Jesus I can't even think of a good euphonism I could state as to what a particular sporting figure did for any other sport (granted I have had a 6 pack lol). He brought in fans who never would of came otherwise. They came, and got hooked. Tito did alot for MMA - anyone who disagrees just doesn't like who he is, which is not what we are talking about here. I agree he is a pompous ass and never said otherwise. I am curious as to answers on my A,B,C question though...

By the way to anyone who didn't notice - and no not saying it means anything less as being on that list is an outstanding accomplishment in itself! But he never stated he was in the section you mentioned, just that he was on that page :winkwink:

Phoenix 04-18-2005 01:57 AM

he is a big dude...you can lose an eye and still win a fight..but have you really won?

if you go to the ground and miss getting your hold in place...what happens when a second later his big ass foreamr comes crashing down on yout throat

stay away from fights unless it is worth it....i used to kick box and when they put me in the ring to see if i would be competitve it only took a few hard punches in my head to make me say wtf?

keep your fighting for defending your honour or your familys honour...fighting to say you are best is only for world class professionals that have dedicated their lives to it...other then that...why risk a broken arm/leg or a re-occuring back injury etc

Torn ligaments in my ankle I'm currently rehabbing
torn ligament in my wrist that can't be rehabbed
Slap tear to the labrum
detached tendons in my right bicep
frayed rotator cuff
had a hole in my lip you could stick your thumb in from a foot to the chops
so many bruises my chest and arms looked like they were zebra striped

I'm the BEST!! lol

Believe it or not, what you get out of it is worth all the pain and then some. I couldn't see ever not training unless I get injured so bad it's just not possible. GJJ isn't really about fighting per se, it's about bringing out the best of yourself and finding out what you're really capable of when the pressure is on.

dig420 04-18-2005 02:12 AM

I'm no more violent today than I was when I started training, I don't wanna hurt nobody and I don't want nobody to hurt me and I'm just as scared of real fighting as I ever was, but in the back of my mind when I think somebody might fuck with me I know the GJJ is there and I tell myself 'If I have to, I'll break his fucking arm' and it's nice to know that I could probably do it :)

rml1608 04-18-2005 02:16 AM

Dig, didn't we know eachother before? Ryan Lanane is my full name - drop me a line some time ..... I think we talked on Either YNOT... Condom... Oprano... One of those boards back in the days. Your name really rings a bell with me. Transvestite Teasers mean anything to you ?

shermo 04-18-2005 03:01 AM

Crazy thread!

Danza... I'd shit myself if this fight ever happened. I'd hate to see you even having to face his fists.

makefuckingmoney 04-18-2005 03:43 AM

ill wager 5k this never happens!
anyone want to give me odds?

pradaboy 04-18-2005 04:12 AM

as fun as this sounds I doubt it will ever happen. I also find it strange that Danza keeps avoiding the question about his 3rd degree BB, if you lied about it just say so and get it over with... no need to impress us GFY folks, just make sure you impress Kimbo.

BTW there will def need to be a ppv stream setup for this, I wouldn't want to miss it!

Shoehorn! 04-18-2005 04:35 AM

I think that Kimbo guy is going to be here in Hawaii for a fight. They have those fights all the time out here.

thats how I feel.... I hate fighting.. specally street fights.. never know who's got what weapon... if you meet me which I belive we have.. I am the most laid back person in vegas.. never start no beef with anyone... and would not want to agianst kimbo.. but you know your in gjj a street fighter is not standing a chance unless.... unless he gets that punch in that levels us to the ground and they can jump on top and attack from there...

Heres a few links, doesn't mention Kimbo, but I coulda swore I saw the name on the sign as I drove by, because I remember thinking to myself "I think thats the guy they talk about on GFY." I'll drive by again tomorrow when I go to play squash, so I'll look again.

Didn't really read these links too extensively, but here they are anyway.

I think I read somewhere though he (Kimbo) is doing some MMA training, is this true? I read it after the last fight with Gannon.

I can totally understand Danza not wanting to put his real name out on GFY for all to see given the kind of content he's involved in. It's best to keep a low profile with that kind of stuff. But maybe he should mention it to Anthony or Dig on ICQ. I'm sure they could be trusted not to repeat it. Then at least this thread would be credible. If what he is saying is true, then this would be great and i'd love to see it. If not, then i guess i'll catch the video on ogrish.com

There's the list of known 3rd Degree BB in BJJ, that you said you were on.

SNIP
Ryron and Rener Gracie, Dig's present and my former instructors are 3rd Degree BB's.

not to be a dick, but I dont see their names on the list. So it isn't complete, maybe he's on the update list that they would appear on?

I wouldn't want to see this fight. I would like to see Danza compete in a MMA event, if he's got the credentials he is claiming. Just up against another guy in the same weight division.

Don't see who's name on the list? Updated list? BJJ isn't Tae Kwon Do. Black belts aren't given out because you spend 2 grand and train there for a year.

There is no updated list. That is the list.

My bad, Ryron and Rener are 1st degree BB's.

Couldn't edit...

My bad, Ryron and Rener are 1st degree BB's as per listed. However, they wear 3rd degree stripes. I have never questioned their ranking, but there are images of the stripes on their belts. Who gave them 3rd, I also don't know.

Maybe Dig can put some light on the subject.

This guy is so desperate for attention.

NP, thanks for clearing that up. I dont blame the guy for not wanting his full name out on GFY (some people prefer a little privacy), but if he's got credentials, he should speak with you on ICQ.

Are you on crack..? Tyson is regarded as one of the best boxer of all time...

THe thing with brawlers is their carreer dont last long,, as oppose to intelligent tactical boxers like Lewis or Hopkins... BUt while he was in his prime.. he was one of the greatest.. :2 cents:

What's the motive for this anyways?

Digipimp 04-18-2005 12:29 PM

Bottom line street fighting for a few g's in the backyard this guy might be king, but I'm sure there some others we don't know about that are pretty raw. If this guy could fight MMA he would be fighting in pride for bigger cash, and he's not so there you go.
