Shit happens, and everyone usually gets a turn. Each of the stats programs has its strengths and weaknesses and eventually the weaknesses tend to come to light. I didn't see what was on the original post with the data that was listed, but if it was Brads company info and not a clients, due to the setup of the server, then so long as each of the clients gets an email from Greg or Brad tonight reiterating that they should make sure their own setups are protected, it seems that there shouldn't be any client issues.

Just some egg on ES.

2257-Ben 06-22-2005 12:46 AM

Hey Gonzo! Likewise bud! Have a beer on me!

basschick 06-22-2005 12:55 AM

greg's professional response is not what i'm used to seeing, and he rocks! he's a diplomat among reps, for sure!

Trax 06-22-2005 01:13 AM

wow
that's the biggest ownage in a while
i feel sorry for all the affiliates whole will be spammed by anyone who downloaded all the data
let alone the personal information

bigdog 06-22-2005 03:20 AM

didn't see the acutal data.
where all the siccash affilates socal security numbers and names put out in public?

WiredGuy 06-22-2005 03:26 AM

So what kind of data was compromised? I always miss out on the drama.

Epoch logins? So some rogue webmaster could login and cancel all their members for example? This is a huge security breech in that case.

Karma can be a bitch...

On a side note Brad keeps mentioning how ES is booked for installs for months, yet i've yet to come across any programs using it (and I do check lots of programs)

Hope he learned his lesson...

Congratualtions on your first domain registration in 1993...

what programs have you "built"?

Dirty F 06-22-2005 05:39 AM

Were there many member emails in there?

Peaches 06-22-2005 05:52 AM

Classy posts by Greg, John (NATS) and KK :)

swedguy 06-22-2005 05:59 AM

Oh my, I knew this was going to come sooner or later :disgust

I told both you Brad and Greg about this very issue 7 months ago and a reminder 6 months ago since the issue itself wasn't fixed, only the few exemples I showed were taken care of.

Do you have extremely lazy and incompetent techs or a manager who can't delegate?

Not fully correct, it was every WTS transaction since 10-04. Meaning a lot of dupes and a lot of returned checks also.

The dump displayed was WTS, and nothing else.

fris 06-22-2005 07:29 AM

brad knows nothing about nothing, he is just a person with no tech skills, he hires people to do things for him.

i have worked for many big companies before i ventured into adult, when i was a system admin and a security consultant all the people that were in charge knew what they were doing, having a boss that wasnt tech savvy isnt good. you have to know what is going on tech wise.

maybe he should enroll in webmaster school.

just a tip to the wise.

Phoenix 06-22-2005 08:00 AM

Fris...when you got a good thread like this..send it over man..im just seeing this now..lol

Greg, shines on as the ultimate pro as usual. ES will be secured and life will go on.

Hell Fris... I offered him a free security audit from Kevin Mitnick. You saw the response.

bigdog 06-22-2005 08:14 AM

if siccash only does around 140 joins a day i can see why brad was all over danza when he said he did 200 joins a day

Hi...

yes our clients were contacted early this AM... as this was a local issue with our servers not being secured. From what I understand no source code has been compromised as source code not be viewed via the web, and the only member information viewable was our wts checking information. Which would be different on each clients server depending on his setup...

furthermore, none of our webmaster/affiliate information was viewable..

Lastly... we still stand by our product.. and we do admit that this could have been easily prevented.. but we also understand that this was inevitable... as any system can and will be exploited at some point... We were seeking a security consultant.. the last person I had contacted (with credentials and recommendations) was booked solid for a few months... and I had spoke to Fris and his brother about doing something a month ago in Montreal.. prior to the new 2257 smackdown.. timing just bit us in the ass...

if anyone has any other questions or concerns.. feel free to contact me personally.. thanks again
