Damn right they are and I was wondering that too..they are a band and are the most sucessful duo of all time and great song writers but they don't seem to fit the tone of that list. Plus I still say Fleetwood Mac are just as British as American and therefore shouldn't be on an American band list.

Well by that logic we can take GnR off that list because Slash was born and currently lives in England. Yes, that right - Slash is British...Stoke On Trent to be exact.

I understanding with the reasoning for Pearl Jam at #1. Timeless, original, soulful, influential classics album after album.

To put it in perspective, Pearl Jam's debut album Ten sold 10 million albums, more than 3 times what Nirvana's Nevermind did. About half the songs on the album are standards today.

No band sounded like Pearl Jam before Pearl Jam. So many did after them. Their influence is crystal clear.

Other great AMERICAN R&R bands not on the list.
