The first program I really started using and promoting was Lightspeedcash back then when it started, before that I made a few nickels but nothing worthwhile with other programs (older)

WEGcash for me (still one of my best convertors to date!)
|
ARS was my first sponsor back in 99 I think.
|
I started before there were programs. Companies/people that wanted advertising paid flat rate for a set amount of clicks or views.

ARS wayyyyyyyy before they started to slip..
|
ARS is solid for me since the change to a new processor
but it'll take lots of time for them to get a bigger piece of my traffic... |

I think one of my 1st was DirtyBird.com -- I think they were paying something like .02 per click back then. Started up a site in June of '97, tinkered with a few smaller PPC programs, and got the site up for like $30/day and thought that was just awesome... an extra $900 a month, I was on top of the world :)
I was a quick study in the biz, and before you knew it XPics was on the scene paying webmasters ungodly amounts per click, so who couldn't pass that up. Next thing you know, that little $30 a day goes to $200 a day, and the career was born. Thanks to a listing on PersianKitty way back then, and AltaVista traffic... kept me going long enough to bankroll some cash, and get some bigger and better things going -- mainly my own paysite. Then got involved with Dean from Intergal, and started making some serious money as one of his main affiliates. The whole while still growing my paysite, with my own merchant account at the time -- so fees were minimal. It was a great run, and got nearly 8yrs out of it.... but just recently closed up shop on the sites. Stricter credit card regs, losing merchant accounts, and losing entire member base on your paysite will do that to you. Plus just burnout in general. Maybe I'll jump into it again someday... but for now I just kind of peek from the sidelines :) |
Ultracash, was the first sponsor I ever received a check from, they fucking rocked...too bad Michel screwed Jim and all the webmasters....if Jim ever rolls out a program again I'll be there promoting it right away...which reminds me that Ragecash.com is rolled out in just 2-3 hours and I think Jim or/and Greenguy is behind it....those two are just about the only guys including Chris Davies I really believe is 100% honest oh forgot Dirt-E and Bosshawg they're top notch too...must be difficult winning an Oscar having to remember thanking every person who was a part of it!!!

Using freehosts like sexspace (and bannerless freehosts that I'd get kicked off soon after traffic came thru) to promote my Adult Check site and AmateurPages banners. It didn't last long because I used the seed money to get paid hosting and started working on projects.

Xpics and those insane per click rates...
:thumbsup |

Those scumbags owe me thousands$$$ They ripped everyone off. I don't know of a single person that was paid by them. I used them on some of my mainstream sites in the 90s. Their stats page always showed that checks were being mailed that never arrived, then anyone who complained or asked "where's my check" was banned as an affiliate. |

When the Xpics site was closed down I thought "Great, they owe me a small fortune that I'll never see". But to their credit, every week the checks kept rolling in until I was paid every single dime owed. |
