It is a great feeling to help someone who is in trouble. But it is very heavy on the heart as well.

My dad took into one of his apartment a gang member/excon. he helped him get off drugs, get a job and live a better life. That was 4 years ago and HE has lived a straight life!! He got married to another recovering addict and together they had a daughter. Savanah is 8 months Old & my parents godchild. 3 weeks ago He dropped dead of an asthma attack. After all he did to make a life for himself.

His wife went back to shooting up. My dad promised him he would never let his children go into the child welfare system so my parents with my help now have temporary custody of her...She is so innocent

Even though you feel so good saving a child, your heart is so heavy. My parents are in their 60's and never expected to be parents again.

i give 20's to a homeless guys that ask me for a beers! Its a great feeling knowing you just contributed a tiny bit to his downfall.

I remember one time I was in NYC on my way back out to Melville Long Island. I grabbed a pizza from a place that we always used to get Pizza from. On the way out of the door a skinny, kind of sickly woman, probably in her late 30's asked me for some money for food. She said that she and her kids are starving. She said, " My babies haven't eaten in days, I need to get them something to eat. Anything."

I offered her the Pizza. She took the pizza and threw it, she said. "I need damn money I'll buy my own damn food."

I shook my head and walked away.

Hey it does not matter if she was working you or not. You felt she was a person in need and you stepped up and helped out without asking for or expecting anything in return.

Helping people for the sake of helping has it's own rewards that some will never know.

Uhm, so her daughter wont take a ride from you (a stranger), but she will take a ride from a cab driver (a stranger)? That doesnt make sense. Also, I think the mom was lying to you. People dont walk for 10 hours straight, especially with a 3 year old kid. Unless she was a bum.

I can relate to that in a way. Me and a buddy of mine and his girlfriend walked into a krogers late one night. There was an old man, humble and quiet standing in the entrance. He handed me this note, it said that he was a deaf mute that could not find a job and wanted to know if he could get some money to help buy food for him and his wife. I stopped reading and looked at him, I could tell he wasnt faking it. I opened my wallet up and gave him a 5 dollar bill. He tried to thank me by nodding his head and smiled. I said your welcome and nodded back.

read some comments - and you know what - even if she was a junkie (she didn't lookk like a junkie though) - what the fuck am I going to do with the money? Spend it on something stupid? I got a great feeling giving her that cash - and in the end - that's what counts - I got my money's worth. It's not up to me to make a decision on how she spends her money - me decison ended when i handed her the cash. After that how she spends it is up to her.

We stopped helping people around here, because they will fuck you no matter what.

At X-mas last year, we gave all the guards at the community 20$. Dont sound like much?? Consider this. they make 85$ a week. This is Mexico! Anyway, in Jan we had to move, because the house we were in had stairs, and my wife was pregnant with a high risk, so she could not climb the stairs anymore. In the middle of the move, someone burglarized the house we were moving out of. they loaded up a bunch of stuff, got on my wifes bicycle, and rode it out the front gate past the guard. Who, saw nothing. the fucker was involved.

And here i was thinking the point of this little exercise was to help someone, not to give your self esteem a pick me up.
