Pizza place's make more delivering than anything else. They don't pay for gas/mileage ( well actually every pizza place set's their own rules but most of the big ones don't ) . That sounds like a very rare exception. I know a couple pizza delivery people right now and it isn't anything like that. Some nights they do great, others are terrible, but $45k is pretty off the wall.

To pull in $300 a night assuming $5 average tip on an average 8 hr. shift, we're talking 8-10 deliveries per hour. Your buddy must wear a blue jump suit with a red cape and fly around the city to deliver at that rate.

Because, why does the pizza delivery guy have to pay tax on the pizza he delivers? So those delivery guys that deliver high priced furniture have to pay tax on their deliveries as well?

The store is responsible for all the sales taxes. The pizza delivery driver is responsible for gas expenses, wear and tear on his vehicle, and claming tips as income. So trust me, those guys are pissed already. You want to avoid this list at all costs. Just a measly $1 per delivery can keep you off.

most places include the tip in deliveries now so I don't even bother. Most I tip them if they dont' include is a few bucks, unless they have to head out in a snow storm then I'll tip more.

Take this as a lesson, these guy make minimum wage and if they get fired, there are 20 other places that they can get a job the next day, so they dont care. If you order delivery and don't tip, your food has been fucked with. And no, you can't look at it and tell. Enjoy!
