Tell them you work for a top secret government agency :D monitoring illegal internet activity.

Then tell him you need to know his email address. That should shut him up. :winkwink:

Never again. Not in this biz, in another one sure, there are other setups to get people to make you money that make more sense, but at least charge a decent UPFRONT FEE for your time, give them the map, a bit of direction and encouragement and if they don't follow through, cyyyaa. Next.

:pimp

It kinda reminded me of myself when I was 16 and got a car. I didn't give a fuck about it and ragged on it. First car I actually bought, different story. I didn't have mom and dad to help pay for a new transsmission I dropped out the car, and actually took care of it.

It was all handed to him, all he needed to bring was the right attitude.

:(

That line tells me a few things:

First of all, he is jealous of your wealth because he is trying to insult your occupation.

Secondly, he is trying to intentionally insult you to make himself feel better.

Next time, if there is a next time, he comes over tell him to go fuck himself and teach her his damn self.

Asshole insulting you in your home? fuck em

tASSy 10-21-2005 11:32 AM

...and while you're at it could you clean her house for her too? :1orglaugh

NoWhErE 10-21-2005 05:43 PM

Btw, I see alot of you mentionning you just give 'em links to free tutorials etc.

Send 'em over here, I've been thinking of getting into webmastering while my editing slows down or I'm rendering.

happens to all of us i'm sure
it isnt hard to deal with

If they know it is porn - point them to any resource site

if they know it is internet junk
just say you make search engines pages
make it sound complicated so they get all frazzled

I have never had anyone push more than once

It took my wife about a year to realize that when I am on the computer
I am normally working and not just looking at penis enlargment related information
lol

For the love of all things natural, I love my father, but I couldn't help myself from busting out in laughter. I showed him how to open Explorer and type in Google.

The next day he came in my room and asked me : Could you remind me what icon connects me to the internet?

I told him to give up there lol. Some older generations just aren't fit for the computer age

my dad wanted me to show him at one time too. he even bought a bunch of asian content but when it came time to make the sites he just couldn't write the explicit descriptions and shit, he didn't like doing it i guess so that was that.

beemk 10-22-2005 04:16 AM

im gonna have to use the charge for lessons line. next time someone wants me to teach them something i will teach them for $150 an hour with no guranteed results.

God that absolutely infuriates me sometimes. God knows I guess, if "I" can do something, than any dumpy housewife who has no job skills can do it too! Kind of insulting.

I just tell them to merely look up how to start a home based business on google and go from there like I basically did.

Then I get "Can you just show her exactly what you do? She learns fast"

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh Man, it's like FUCK NO now get the fuck outta my house and go get your wife a paper route. ( I didn't say that but my facial expression probably did)

I get that way too often. Then they are insulted that you don't have time to show them everything you know. So I'm a big asshole now I guess. He didn't seem too thrilled with me.

Fuck man.. I get this all the time as well..

Unreal.. I hate it..

They think I dont do anything and lounge and lesiure all day and get paid..

Well actually thats exactly what I do..

But shit, this cant be taught.. You are born with it..

I get this all the time.. I really hate it.

Wiggles 10-22-2005 04:32 AM

haha i get friends asking me to show them, then i ask them if they know html, can program, or can do graphics, and the response is always 'no', like what the fuck do they think i do to make sites?

RobbieRye 10-22-2005 04:48 AM

I think that the big problem is understanding. A lot of regular people who occasionally sign up to a site and surf the TGP's don't understand what it takes to work in online porn. A lot of people think that it's easy to work in porn and fail for the same reasons they would fail starting any other business.

It seems a lot of people think that working in porn is immoral or somehow demeaning. This makes people who have been successful in online porn apprehensive and sometimes even lie about what they do.

I think that both of these things contribute to a general misunderstanding of what online porn is and how it generates revenue. If we were all comfortable enough to explain what we did and people outside of the industry were comfortable enough to listen, situations like RRRed's wouldn't exist.

Wouldn't it be nice to say at a community Christmas party, "I help run a large paysite. We process millions of transactions every year." If the person listening actually understood the time, money, and business skills involved in running something like that, they would have a great deal of respect for you.

escorpio 10-22-2005 05:46 AM

When you point someone to a tutorial site and their response is "but can't you just show me?" they have already indicated they don't want to work for it. Fuck them.

Well, now give me a break guys.. Working online is a piece of cake compared to the real world.

AdPatron 12-23-2005 01:20 AM

I honestly tell people the truth... people pay me to generate traffic to their websites. I tell them that dating sites are my most popular clients. My mom is my accountant (she use to run her own software business and is now a financial consultant). BUT people also know I run a small record label here in Dallas. If you think people bug you in this industry for help, you should try music. Musicians are the poorest people on the planet.

few people are willing to do what it takes to make any significant amount of cash...

most are either lazy or can't follow directions or both lol, it's a serious sorting process to find good people...
