I've got a lot of experience all over the U.S. (and Europe). People in and around NYC don't even look human. I won't even bring up the fact that they're also about the most vile people you'll encounter anywhere. Can't believe anyone pays for this shit. "OOOH IT'S IN JERSEY WHICH IS NEXT TO NYC! NYC! OMG!" Fucking morons. |

Yeah, same in NY... a shack for $800k ... it's ridiculous :disgust

Realestate in the NY/NJ area now have to be looked at as investments.
If they let that go for 375 and you drop 50k into it, you could bring it up pretty close to the 500k mark pretty fast. |

maybe, if you are just buying one to flip. but greater leverage can be had by buying property at 100 times monthly rental or less. to build a real estate empire fast you need tenants paying your mortgages. clue: midwest. some areas in the south, upper western states (dakotas), mi, wi, mn. |
I just bought a small (1800 sq ft) house here in Newport Beach for $810,000.00 last month. Total fixer upper too, already dumped 20k into flooring and landscaping.

I just looked and that place in NJ for 399 was a 5 bedroom place
might compare better to this one http://www.justlisted.com.au/sp/jlre...pcode=2090&rg= At $2,250,000 you don't know how lucky you are |
There is a simple explanation why someone would pay 400k for that place. I used to live one town over from Haworth and its can be best described as an ultra-rich-yuppie-family-town right outside NYC.
Someone will buy that dump, rip it down and build a brand new Mc Mansion. It was funny to see this thread as I was back near was I used to live just yesterday (moved 2+ years ago out of NJ) and it's crazy - so many middle class / older homes in the area were torn down and huge Mc Mansions were built. Its not like projects are being ripped down and houses are being built in their place, we are talking nice ranchers or spilt levels going for 500k+, they are ripped down and another house is built in it's place that goes for 1.2 mil+. Crazy shit. Lots of cash near NYC. |

It's all about supply and demand... Location, location, location.
|
Damn that sure doesn't buy much..almost as bad as here
|
400k hardly gets you a studio condo in Boston. Outside of Boston a shack.
