USA to start then will add UK, NL. They'll all be on from the get go, but we will slowly introduce each card.

If this turns out to be even only half as good as it sounds, epass will be sooo screwed...

I love this thread.

Pretty much every angle that I could have been thinking of has been covered. Chio, I'm eagerly waiting for the launch :)

As a security option, probably one similar to e-gold. In example if browser or IP address changes when you try to log into your account a verification pin is sent to your e-mail address on file. One it is verified bam you can log into. Considering this will be new and also if it is what it says it is going to be you are going to be a big target for fraudsters. so an option like stated above that doesn't necessarily have to turned on by default but rather an option would be good also.

One of the things I like about Paypal is "The Fund". I'm too broke to open up an account with one of the investment banking sites so it appeals to me. What I dislike about it is that I can't choose what stocks I want to buy. If you had some sort of brokerage service where I could invest a small amount of money in the stocks of my choice, that would be great.

Peaches 12-10-2005 11:26 AM

I've had Paypal since it came out. Hooked it up to my credit card instead of a bank account so I could address fraud easier. I have a business and personal Paypal account and even though I don't use them frequently, I've been VERY pleased with Paypal.

I won some money from Epassporte over a year ago. When I looked at it, it seemed like such a PITA to set up that I didn't even bother. Perhaps the steps are easier now, but I remember something like having to charge $X on my credit card before I could even open an account? Again, my memory is bad and it could have changed, but when it's too much of a hassle to get free money, there might be a problem. Or I might be incredibly lazy ;)

It IS that much of a hassle to open an account. Many non-US webmasters can't even verify the pending amount due to their bank regulations. So sponsors opening ePassporte accounts for their webmasters have been a God send.

On another note, to add to the features desired, it would be really cool if you could wire out funds straight out of your account.

Personally multiple accounts would be nice.

Paypal makes you jump through a great deal of hoops to get multiple accounts listed at the same address. This makes things very damn inconvient if you run more than one business or if your trying to keep your books seperate for assorted projects. I find it a big waste of time to have to manually go through all the transactions and then figure out which one is for which business and so on.

Reciept folders that are customizable. Sort of like an email system yet where you can edit and name them as you choose so you can file away assorted transactions as you please.

Customizable auto responders for when people send you funds.

A customizable calendar inside of the billing area that you can set reminders that also will email you or message you if you choose.

Preset future pending transactions. Sort of like how my online bank does it. I can set it to transfer funds at a future date in the amount I choose on the day I choose. This should be bi directional and even account to account.

Minimum and maximum balances. Option to set these or leave as blank. If set the account will always ensure you have a minimum amount available for instant transactions, and or a maximum amount in the accout and any excess will automatically be transfered to your bank account on record.

Fee's comparable to paypal and less like epassporte.

Options to send in US funds or local currency *at reasonable exchange rate.

Ability for people to pay a bill to you even if they do not have an account. So they can just pay you by credit card or whatnot.

Ability to add notes to assorted users you have in your own address book.

Yngwie 12-10-2005 11:43 AM

another good thing would be no limits on the amounts you can load into the account.. Like with epassporte there is a $500 daily limit (for a regular account) so if I was to make $1000 with a sponsor that pays me through epassporte I wouldn't be able to get it. So I would have to try to talk to the sponsor and get them to make 2 deposits of $500 within a 2 day period which would be a pain in the ass. No limits for anything would be a plus.

Jarmusch 12-10-2005 11:51 AM

1- Add funds to your account with a bank account from ANY country in the world, instead of just a few select countries.
2- Withdrawal money by wire transfer to ANY country in the world, instead of a just a few select countries.
4- Reasonably high daily transaction limits.
3- Option to put your money in a savings account and earn anual interest. ;)

Jarmusch 12-10-2005 11:58 AM

4- Have 24/7 live chat support accessible from inside your account with staff that actually has a clue on how the system works.

Business accounts can send larger amounts to personal accounts. I've received many transfers over $500.

Yep - hit the same problem with two different bank accounts trying 12 months apart so I've given up now. It's never going to be useful enough for me to justify the hassle of trying to open it and some of the fees are scarily high.

I've been wanting a backup or simple good alternative to PayPal for some of our projects for a long while now so here's hoping it all goes smoothly :) To be honest my biggest fear is you'll somehow get the fraud part wrong and either make it so tough that it's useless for users (as so very many have in the past) or go too soft on fraud and not be in business for long due to being hit hard (again like so many have). It's a very tough balancing act to get right and I wish you all the luck n the world doing so.

Tipsy 12-17-2005 10:08 AM

The other thing I find interesting is the amount of people comparing a new system to epassporte. Epassporte is as good as useless for anything other than BtoB style payments such as sponsor payments. Despite PayPal's obvious flaws and problems you cannot compare it to epassporte as they for the most part do things very differently and PP is far more functional, as hopefully Chio's new system will be.

I haven't read the full thread (spank me, I've been naughty)

BUT I would love the option to have multiple accounts. Like a chequing account vs savings account setup. One I can use and have autowithdrawals from, and one that is more of a pool type account. Also be able to have multiple accounts period. That always pissed me off about paypal. I want one account with my real name, one with my other name, but both tied to the same bank account. That would be nice. Or maybe that's just being extra paranoid. ....

sorry, rambling.

Bake 12-17-2005 04:59 PM

I dont if you have included it or not but being able to use efpos to pay would be great.

mrthumbs 12-17-2005 05:09 PM

So youre building a paypal alternative and a month before launch you ask people for suggestions? Sounds like serious competition for epass/pp!!!

Not based on an opensource payment script is it?

You should read my first post :) It's been in development for a year.
I just wanted to make sure I had most features people wanted which from this thread I can see, we do.

If you mean EFTPOS, it's not in yet but certainly something we would look into.

This is one of my primary concerns that I talked with Chio about on icq.

IMHO (and no offense) but saying you got a good set of investors and whatnot isn't deffy not enough, we need some names & credentials, look at the history of programs and billing companies to see why i'm so concerned...

Give me a wish list. I know a big thing would be ability to transfer to and from these systems easily (no more epass>paypal> and vice versa type transfers) Having a debit card attached to your account, so you can use it online or wherever credit cards are taken... We have these already, What other things would be important?

For merchants/program owners we have a mass payment system for affiliate payments.

Paypal will shut you down... you better have some alternatives.

1. When your system takes off, dont get too big for your pants, or blinded by money. Remember where you came from.

Without adult. Paypal would most likely not have gotten the foothold they did. IMHO.

2. Want to really do something for your customers. Be like a real bank. Offer them Bank things. A savings account that payes interest. Etc....
