If it's even close I stop and sleep. No DWIs that way and I hope I avoid accidents. Always a rest stop or someplace to pull over. So it's light out when ya get home.

I don't know if I would be mad at her in a similar situation or what. This does need to be a wake up call. In any case wish you both the best.

Call the g/f on the cell and tell her I can't drive and will sleep it off. She never complains. Even if it is 5:00 in the morning when I get home. Ahmmmm, I could get away with a whole bunch on that note.

Now if she is with me, she drives when she is ready. I drink more so she drives more...

I know a guy who was having trouble staying awake while driving home one night during the middle of winter. He lowered his Boxter's top and kept driving. Now thats nuts!

BradM 12-18-2005 12:44 AM

Car accidents are never fun.

I'm not a religious person in the slightest, but when I walked out of a wreck I should have died in, I thanked God for the second chance.

Joesho 12-18-2005 09:27 AM

That's crazy!

tASSy 12-18-2005 12:46 PM

perhaps she was fantasizing about you in a speedo?

all kidding aside, i'm very happy to hear that she's okay. i'm sorry to hear the car is not so okay and that you guys have a new bill/car buying process to go through. falling asleep at the wheel is *such* a danger, it's really scary. essentially, the moment you first think "i feel tired," is usually the last thing you remember. i used to drive truck and i can't tell you how much i tried to cheat sleep. it's a stupid game to play. i'm thanking the stars your wife is alive. *much love*

Hey Everyone, thanks for the good words. She is doing well, she has some bruising popping up all over her..

She has bruised arms, her neck has a bruise on the left side, she has the standard seat belt mark across her chest and lap, and her knees are black and blue right now. her nose is a little bit bruised from the air bags. and she has a little whip lash I think..

I am very thankful she is alive, It was strange waking up today knowing what had happened, and that she walked away from it, after so many friends I know have been in accidents and were killed on the scene.

I went to the pole she hit yesterday and looked around... I could see where she went up the curb and hit the pole, skid marks up the curb leading into the pole. about 20 feet from the pole was one of her headlights.. So I think the impact was pretty strong, (I picked it up to save to show her) I still have not seen the car, I think I'll be going to document that today... I have to take alot of pics of stuff like her wheels and what not to make sure they don't discount that she had custom wheels on the car and neglect to add that into the total damages.

She only owed about $2800 on the car till it was fully paid off.. So she may be in a good position to get a new car and walk away without being upside down on it.

Again, thanks everyone for your kind words.. I really appreciate it.

I'd much rather have to look for a new car than a new wife.. But it does still suck for her...

No doubt man!!! I think that any gift I get from anyone will not be as good as my wife being able to walk, talk, and put her arms around me still. I don't know what would have happened to me if she was gone... That is what is starting to hit me more and more now that I am not as angry about her falling asleep..

I'll hollar at you sometime today or tommorrow from the office, thanks for the good thoughts!

adultchica 12-18-2005 01:01 PM

I am VERY glad that she is okay. I fell asleep in the car driving home once at 18 years old after working an all night shift. I ended up going back and forth in a ditch and somehow woke up and got out of the ditch and made it home.

Riskiest thing i ever did though, was continue that drive. I rolled the windows down with the cold air on my face and somehow made it home. I thought at 18 I was invincible, you know how that is.

Since then though, I have always pulled off to the shoulder to sleep if I know I can't handle it.
