He has been taking lessons though from experienced captains and been reading over manuals like nuts trying to figure it out. Maybe you could take him out for a quick jaunt and show him how to use it ;)

Hah... Fitty... !!!

DH,

I hope you are serious and he does take lessons... ON HIS BOAT .. with experienced captain....

Driving a boat of any size.... single screw or twin is an artform. One that can be nurtured and developed... but only with time and experience.

I am very fortunate - I was driving speedboats and large fishing boats and waterski racing as an early teen. I can spot a boating newbie from about 100 yards. I simply will not get on a vessel unless I really know the captain and have accessed his skills.

DH,
I don't know what you got the ol man for Xmas... but a few boating lessons would sure be a good Happy New Years Gift !!!!

Nah, I am looking for a cottage right now and the largest I would want is around a 26 footer. A 50 footer is just ridiculous and I would have to sell GTS just to afford gas to go out for a troll around the bay. ;)

Hehe thanks Big B, yes he is taking lessons on his own boat with several experienced captains. He's a very cautious guy and would'nt go out unless he felt 100% comfortable handling it. Most of his boating will be around this little peninsula where his house is.

I don't know.
For me that boat is only the stem of a boat...
Not a real boat. But an expensive toy of course.

You might as well burn hundred dollar bills in your driveway, frankly.

I was just going through the list of what we need to do on one of ours in the next two weeks before racing season starts, and that's not even what has to be done once it does start... It takes about 5 minutes to get to 5 figures... and we don't even really pay for gas on a sailboat...

Th!nk 12-27-2005 12:53 PM

awesome...nice! :thumbsup
