It's too bad - alot of BS here - but the thug/gang mentality is the problem - it's glorified and needs to be taught out of these kids - I coach alot of kids - of all races - and when they come to me - they leave the street shit off my field - I just wish more of these kids got involved in something other than gangs.

Yep, Pipecrew has a good point there... If you look at the people that are using these handguns they are "primarily" Somalian/Lebonese/Black gangs. I don't want to sound like a racist but the numbers speak for themselves.

My thoughts on this in the past was that the gang members were just killing each other (which in my mind was fine because that just meant less trash on the street). However with incidents like this with 6 people get shot over no apparent reason it makes me wonder if this was some kind of gang initiation where they had to go out and shoot someone to get into the gang.

very true - you want to stop this violence? drop the young offenders act NOW - have kids been tried as adults and see how fast the shootings stop. Gun laws dont do anything when the people who are doing the shootings arent walking around with registered guns in the first place. They get them for 20$ downtown illegally, and the bullets arent tracable to a registry.

Punks will think twice if they realize that they can get life - right now youth see jail time as a badge of honor. You spend 3 years and you are a "god" to others on the streets and schools. so they purposely go out and commit a crime just to get recognition and respect from others by doing a crime. Getting into gangs also in some cases requires the newbie to just go out and shoot someone randomly so as to show no fear.

Bring back death penalty, increase border patrols by snopping for guns and remove young offenders act. It will be a peaceful society once again and if there is a fight- its done in an honorable way - fists.

NYC area is very safe these days. We hit a low in the 70's and 80's but now it's one of the safest large cities.

I have lived in downtown Toronto since the early 80's.

The violence we are seeing now is not bad compared to a huge number of american cities of the same size. It is bad to us because Toronto has been such a safe city for so many years. That is now changing.

Someone has found a way to open a huge pipeline coming into Toronto for US guns.

My guess is through the Indian reservations out by Cornwall.

The majority of the guns used to commit these crimes are from the US. Messed up they don't catch more at the border.

What they need to do is make it so that any crime committed with a weapon like a gun or a knife or a machete automatically nullifies the use of the YOA and makes it an offence that's tried as an adult.

I was in that EXACT spot with my family not ONE hour before!!!! Scares the hell out if ya for sure!

you can see how busy it got! SO i keep walking and i see this gang of Thugs and all kinds of racial slurs. MInd you the kids are small but the sheer number of them can many any person scared. So I was feeling good so i decieded to talk thru them. NO big deal.........well anyways theses fuckers were up to something you could sence it. So the minute the last person walked by I quickly took this pic.

I went on to do my shopping and I started coming back and the cops where everywhere. Some girl got shot! In the exact same area i was in and where the fight was!
