Yeah, thats why at the New York premier of the movie, George Lucas goes up to Peter Jackson, and the first thing Lucas says to Peter is, "You've raised the bar."

The CGI and special effects are light years ahead of everyone else. There were only a few times in the entire movie that it got spotty, and one of them was the bronto chase when the brontos rounded the mountain bend. And I think the only reason it got spotty those few times was because there was just so very much CGI to contend with. You'd swear Kong himself was alive, it was so well done.

If you go into the movie wanting to see something like "Raiders of the Lost Ark", something spectacular, you'll come out elated with what you saw. Not only that, there are some very special touches in the film, some unexpectadly moving moments that come out of nowhere. But to complain about the overall CGI in this movie is just ridiculous and silly. I think even George Lucas would be laughing at that comment, especially with his ILM special effects studio trying now to catch up with Jackson's WETA studio.

it is like people that say the cgi wasn't that great forget that Kong was CGI.

ah, the lovely sarah is back. hi sarah :)

also, if the cgi is as bad as the previous poster said, why did some people in the theater nearly barf, and everybody cringed, at the slug/leetch scene in the spider pit? no, the cgi wasn't perfect in only a few parts with a movie completely filled with cgi, but most industry observers know that this movie has the most spectacular and best special effects in motion picture history.

i think one of the things that is really happening is that ppl are judging this movie next to the LOTR franchise. its not LOTR. its more in the vein of Raiders of the Lost Ark crossed with some of the tragedy in Titanic.

King kong was great, you have to take it for what it is though, "KING KONG", same as the Hulk was great but you had to remember you went to watch the hulk, not saving private ryan.

;-)

FREE 1 minute clip of Kong's battle with the 3 T-Rexes. Then judge for yourself if the effects suck or not.

I second that. We dont like it when people still our work, content, etc. without paying for it but some seem to find it perfectly acceptable to rip someone else off by the same process. If you cant afford 6 or 8, hell even $10 bucks to see a show you should probably shoot yourself anyways because your life took a wrong turn somewhere and you are obviously a failure.

Going to see it tomorrow. I loved the original so I have to check this out. I think Peter Jackson is great too so we'll see...

I am going to see it, I have heard that its a great movie!

And in My opinion that kind of movie you have to see in the theatre, watching it on your computer does not do it justice!
