I watched that one over 10 years ago, Sarah. If I recall it really goes all the way, and shows a castration, and lots of choking until losing consciousness during sex. I remember thinking, "Fuck this is a brutal movie!" It took no prisoners, but really delved into the depths of, like you said, sexual obsession.

Yeah it is one of those where you don't want to give away the ending but you feel the need to let any men watching it with you know that it might not be an easy ride.

so many good movies this year though

my biggest surprise was Narnia. That movie just charmed the shit out of me...

as far as comedies go, lotsa votes for "40 Year Old Virgin" and hardly any, if at all, for "Wedding Crashers." Thought it would be more even.

Cinderella Man is a gem. And just like Shawshank, a movie about hope as its central theme, and also like Shawshank, rather neglected at the box office, although thankfully it did end up turning a profit, earning $109 Million worldwide, yet costing $88 Million in production costs. I knew it would find its way to people thru the DVD though, just like Shawshank. Shawshank hardly made any $ but now almost everyone I know has a copy as its one of the most beloved movies of all time. So yes, if you haven't seen CM yet, rent it or buy it. You'll be pleased.

Creep is a very nice movie and for sure The Machinist!

Don't recall many good movies this year, sin city is the only one I remember as being pretty good....

I kind of like the line up that you have but I have not seen kong, or cinderella man yet.

Don't deprive yourself of those two films........both radically different from each other, but xcellent

haven't seen "Munich" yet but some GFY'ers are saying its really good.

havent seen much '05 flicks but the ones i have seen and liked were sin city and lord of war.
Ill mention The descent for the nice bloody effects and that very hot asian chick
