Depends on intended use and needs. Like if you're going be using the Macromedia suite of software, an apple is the wrong choice.

When someone says Dell, they are speaking of a shit load of different laptop models. The point is which one.

Are you paying cash or were you thinking of leasing to buy.. Dell accounting sucks bad IMO (many customers with problems- I consult).

So a little more detail on your exact needs besides bright screen would help make suggestions.

When anyone aksed me who to use, I always say dell because of their support .

But I would try to get a laptop that allows you to upgrade it, change the motherboard and cards ect.. Also go for aluminum, laptops get very hot so aluminum is the best case to help with that.

Good luck :thumbsup

anyone has any experience with Fujitsu-Siemens?

Anthony 01-13-2006 12:12 PM

I have an IBM Thinkpad T41. Not one hiccup and I am rough with my laptops.

ServerGenius 01-13-2006 12:13 PM

Allthough Sony makes truely GREAT laptops and have superior screens their
battery life SUCKS DONKEY BALLS. From what you request I would go for a
fujitsu-siemens

:thumbsup

LOL no it's beyond screwed up... The power cord has had troubles with charging because it's been yanked so many times and thrashed. I've had it fixed like 3 times and now the thing doesn't charge at all unless it's OFF. Don't ask me why other than it's just on its last legs. Time to kiss it goodbye.

Kimmykim 01-13-2006 02:18 PM

Sony Vaio. I haven't used anything but in years, and I've only had one problem with one that was taken care of in one day. (Bad board on a brand new one, Fry's gave me another one within a half hour of walking back into the store with it).

The Lifebook looks interesting, I was checking them out at Fry's a couple of months ago.
