:2 cents:
I'm a big wino! Drink it all the time, love it.
Just bought a bottle of this for one of my girlfriend's celebrating a milestone birthday (she's way into champagne). This is the best champage we have ever had. The bottle is especially nice looking also.

1996 CHAMPAGNE NICOLAS FEUILLATTE, ?Cuvee Palmes d?Or?, Epernay, France - $100.00

The price on this is smokin'. Next closest retailer was at $225. The wine shop that has this is in Yountville, CA - Groezinger's
www.groezingers.com
great guys, very knowledgeable and awesome pricing.
Enjoy!!!!!

Mad Dog 20/20...buy 150 bottles of the stuff. He'll drink happily for a year.

I can't see why anyone would spend that much on a bottle of wine... It all tastes the same to me, usually i'd rather have a beer.

Mr Pheer 01-23-2006 11:59 PM

Serge would tell you the same thing that I'm going to.

There is no good or bad wines, only wines that you like or dont like. You going to let someone else tell you something is good when you think it tastes like shit?

The best advice has already been posted in this thread: try some of the less expensive varieties to see what you like first, and then go from there. But if you try a $3 bottle of wine and you really like it, then theres nothing wrong with that.

Nothing says "I love you" like a bottle of Thunderbird.

If you like sweet wine at all ... Dolce ... VERY good, but VERY sweet!

i worked at 2 of them while in school, great company to work for, good prices, most of the employees work very hard for the company and a benefit is being able to learn a little about wine at a relatively young age

Dude ... if you want to buy a very good wine ... then don't go for anything made in the USA. You have to go for either Italian or French.
End of story.

Personally i would go for a really nice bottle of 1981 Castello di Monsanto - Reserva Il Poggio, Chianti Classico (around $200) or a 2001 Chianti Rufina Riserva, Castello di Nipozzano (around $350).

Both are great.

Hope this helps
