Youc an make yoru own pedialite.
If you have concentrated unsweetened roange juice with no pulp water it down, instead of 3 cans of water use 4, and add a teaspoon of salt to the micture. The virus will work itself through, just keep her hydrated and back off the proteins for 12 hours. |

10 hour waits at the ER, high insurance costs and large DR fees are a result of people who abuse the system and race in when they've got a hangnail. Simmer down! I believe the whole purpose of this thread was that there was a 12 hour wait at the ER, and the clinic would be open by then... so he wanted more ideas on what he could do until then. |

Do I care who you are? All I see is a self righteous pompus asshole. You mean nothing to me tough "you have no idea who I am" guy |

Do you know how many peopel call the hostpital ina day about baby problems like this? They have no more patience for these cases. I personally think he did no wrong, but who I am I to say, only a father of a 15 month old who rarely sees the inside of a hospital let alone a doctor's office because I already know how to treat my son and if I don't, I talk to real parents, not doctors who are so immune to the urgency that they make you wait in a room for 3 hours only to send you home with a "he's fine". if teh situation was life threatening, yes, a doctor would be the first contact. You have NO right to question his parenting. That's downright rude and uncalled for. This guy loves his daughter with all his heart and I have talked to him on many occasions of desperation. He's good people. |
One question... unless you're in the middle of nowhere surely there's more than one hospital with an emergency department? I live on the outer fringes of suburbia but there are at least 4 hospitals with ERs within 30 mins drive from here.
Then again maybe things are diff where you are... around here we can go to a public hospital and usually be seen in under 2 hours (often <30 mins), at no cost. |
If you have to wait 10 hours then it's not a fucking Emergency !
|
I used to live in Killeen, I know there is a hospital over there about 3 miles outside of the army gate. There is also a great one in Temple.
Diarrhea is nothing to freak out about right away unless the baby appears to be in extreme duress. IF she behaves normally in every other manner, I would wait until Monday morning and take her to the doctor if I were you. However, if there are other symptoms involved or if you just have that "parental gut feeling" something is really wrong, take her to the ER. Usually, a parent's gut feeling is the right one |
wow, i thought since you guys had such a better health care system 14 hour wait? no one even waits that long in emergency in canada where everyone claims we are so backed up and should take on the US model.
anyways, i'd say go to the ER but i am also sure there are other places you can ask for advice. here in canada we have this thing called 'tele-health' 24 hour free hotline for all your health concerns. maybe there is something like that in the states. |
As long as she is peeing every 4 hours or so you do not have to worry about dehydration.
|
You wanna know something? I suspect a lot of this argument stemmed from the typo you admitted you made in your first post. Personally I would have flamed the arse off you if your kid WASNT holding down liquids and you were asking advice on GFY. The fact that he/she is holding liquids down does make it less of an emergency and not really necessary to go steaming up the hospital.
All these "I wont promote your program" and "You are on my ignore list" type posts (not to mention any antagonistic trolls) are IMO a result of an errant "isnt" in the first post. |
glad to see you got it under control.. i have 2 girls under 3 yrs and it can be damn scary when stuff like that happens..
i'm lucky here in australia with health cover .. about $170/month (covers entire family) we get into the er in a private hospital in about 5 min regardless of how trivial it may seem on the surface, if one of the kids has to go in it's usually straight through to a dr, public hospital is about 15min-1hr depending on the queue. to the idiots: it may surpise you but many people on this board actually have kids themselves AND are willing to give fellow posters a hand when they're in need. |
glad she is doing better chris..
|
just look at this post!
i will never ask anything concerning my kids here, look at some of the replies. hope shes ok Chris |
