What's funny about this is, both sides are right and wrong. I think it's all relative to each and everyone of us. Personnally, I want to be filthy fuckin' rich because I enjoy performance. I don't actually enjoy spending the money (OK I do, but that's not what I'm trying to say here.); I enjoy the feeling of growth, of advancement. Anybody else feels what I'm saying? I wouldn't say I'm the happiest guy around, I constantly cut on what I feel like doing to prioritise what's really important (or is it?), but that gives me a feeling of discipline, of character strenghth, and is sorta like the role I have decided to play in my entourage.

Isnt it great?

Well said J-$

Irresponsiblility leads to problems with money. Plain and simple. Sure there are happy poor people but they may be rich in other ways. My point was simple: Rich is GOOD. Why? Because I can take responsibility for my actions and not go haywire. I know how to shop and learned how to save safely. Invest in self through school and education and share WISELY not on impulse.

The problem here is some people see being rich as a burden or the root of all evil. That's a reactionary response and outlook that brings about disaster.

Keeping a level head, not giving into impulse and not separating oneself from reality makes wealth more enjoyable.

I know a near billionaire and he is miserable because of homelife. But he was really sick and the healthcare he received due to the money saved his life ...

ZZZZzzzzZZZZZzzzzzZZZZZZzzzz

that sounds like a rich man trying to make themselves feel better at the end of the day doing a few tax rightoffs,

saying the only real pleasure from wealth is helping the less fortunate is complete and utter bullshit, you should always help the less fortunate, not just when you are rich.

"Rich" comes and goes. Wealth is what you can brag about. That doesn't go away. Not many people are wealthy.

Webby 01-31-2006 02:14 PM

"Rich" in respect of money can be very addictive.

Apart from a rare few who were given money, all seriously rich folks I've known have worked very hard for their wealth - and this is an "addiction" like being a workaholic.

When they got this wealth, what do they do? Work to get richer. Their life does not change, they don't waste money (generally) on toys or possessions to show how big their dicks are. They are too busy for that shit.

I got rich and poor friends - they are friends because of who they are and not because of wealth and, unless ya knew, - it's hard to tell the difference.

The odd few rich folks who relaxed/retired from their career in earning money thought they owned the world (not in the arrogant sense) and then proceeded to lose their money on crap.

Almost equally, the folks who head out looking for a goldmine rarely become wealthy. Their ambitions or biz acumen are skin deep and there is nothing underneath.

Richness and wealth is not all about that greenback, tho most folks have been "taught" that is the standard for wealth.

I can think of a few people I know who are damned "rich" - not necessarily in the money sense. Their richness came from who they are as individuals and what they have done in their lives. Some are well-known, but it's not about "fame" or getting the adulation of friends - it's about personal qualities exceeding that of norm. Most of these folks are very happy in their lives.

I'm not rich........yet, but one thing I do have is extraordinary health. I post on a life extension forum and the bragging rights go to those who have the best triglycerides and C-reactive protein levels, because in the end who gives a fuck how much money you have if your health sucks. So now I have to bust ass and be as creative and enterprising as possible so I can drive my future porsche carrera gt 200mph with the top down.:thumbsup

Somehow I think there's a big time difference in Greg's definition of wealth and KRL's. Just a guess though.

You're getting my point. Great health is always a blessing. Yet when that health declines due to outside forces, accidents etc., if you've no money to pay for fixin' you're fucked.

Plain and simple.
