After trying to use it I have to agree. It's foo slow. Ajax is nice for some apps, but not search.

But my real question is how does a company with a $6 billion dollar a year R&D warchest not know that already before they release to the public?

It is beyond belief.

how many people see a deal in the future between MS & google........squeezing yahoo out? I can.

Pornwolf 03-10-2006 02:08 PM

I can't see Google and Microsoft ever making a deal. Google's heading the exact same direction as M$. The only difference in strategy is they are taking a platform agnostic approach... which is smarter in this day and age.

For instance: Google aquires Writely and it will probably aquire Dabble next. It's shaping up to be the next generation office.

When they perfect this, how long do you think it will take major corporations who spend waaaaaaaaaaay too much money on Windows licenses to stop paying the fee and go Linux? I say 5 years max if Google gets it all right.

Only problem is that it is too slow to load. You try to search and find that the search term hasn't gone in right cos the full page didn't load.

M$ might have miscalculated on the expected traffic, wait for a couple
of months until they released a service pack for the engine :winkwink: :1orglaugh

Nightsurf the only ad. Sure that will change. Nightsurf being the #1 ad won't. Leave it to MS to screw advertisers.

They are mailing every hotmail member weekly about their new products.

They are number 1 in Webmail with about a 33% market share. (compared to less than 5% for Gmail).

I am not a google fan, still using Yahoo. Actually, MyYahoo... great setup.

Nice. I hope it works well cuz I have a lot of good MSN listings

Pornwolf 03-12-2006 06:09 PM

I'm actually rooting for them too... which is strange.

Microsoft wants to be #1 and Bill Gates usually gets what he wants.

The interface isn't very friendly, they did go a little AJAX-crazy, however the real test will be in the quality of their results. MS recently announced that their engine will be more relevant than Google within the year, so we'll see how that goes.
