Some people in this thread know their history and some don't.

As far as slavery goes, since the beginning of man, slavery of one kind or another has existed, and virtually every tribe, race, and nationality has been enslaved by its conquerors, at some point in time, in history. Slave trade still exists in the world to this very day.

Blacks are not owed anything by the US except equal cilvil rights and in this you now have pariety with all American citizens and maybe even more than pariety because of Affirmative Action. It is up to you to take full advantage of this. Most of your Black leaders do not do you a service by moaning about the fact that your race were once slaves in this nation. Get over it, and get on with it. Your life is not anymore difficult than it is for any other group of poor people in this nation, be it white, black, asian, latino, or other races.

When Colin Powell was a young military officer one of his commanders told him he was the best black officer in the unit. Colin Powell found this to be unacceptable so he set out to become the best officer in the unit. That is the role model to follow and not the Farakans, and Jacksons, and Sharptons of your race.
