originally they were color... when shooting digital, you're better off taking them in color then switching in PS. the board/software within the camera are never as good as PS will convert and keep details

Sadly, digital sucks for B&W.
Black and white film has very differeny sensitivites compared to colour film, or colour sensors - as its entire range is grey scale, it has to be able to contrast against black and white (obviously) - but digital struggles to deliver on this.

If you shot those scenes w/ TMAX vs. digital, you'd notice you probably would automatically get the contrast without the blowout spots :D

very true.... i still prefer film over digital :thumbsup

and i prefer illford 100... and from what i remember kodak discontinued tmax b&w film

I thought it was only cancelled from production in one place.. I was looking over it just yesterday in all formats (iso 125 - 3200, 35mm, 120 etc)
