I use 2 monitors, one is a 36" HDTV, the other a standard 19". I couldn't see the LCD monitors, and I needed something I could read. Roy installed a special vid card, so I can use both monitors, with just the one box and mouse.

I'll take a picture of the work stations, after I tidy up.

I use 2 IE windows on 1 monitor. That you see there is only a sample of the full screen size.

Yea I do alot of audio production with Logic, Cubase, Reason etc. Two monitors is essential. You can get around on one, but its much more difficult.

People who have never used two monitors just cant understand how much easier it makes getting work done, without having to shuffle, minimize, maximize windows all the time. With my tiny low rez lcd I have to use at work I feel crippled.. its like trying to do my job with my mobile phone:P

There was a study released a while ago, that actually measured if two monitors makes you more efficient. The results were that your productivity increases by up to 50%. Tried to take that to my boss, but he laughed at me:(

There is no fucking point in having them, unless you are a sotck trader...

Unless you want to show off..

All can be done with no problems with one 14 monitor..

Those having 3 monitors in a row, are the same people who travel with their 12" notebooks and finish doing the same work when they are abroad, with no problems. :)

Sorry but this is the most clueless statement ever. lol I have dual 21" monitors, and my laptop to the left of those. I use one mouse and keyboard for all 3 using synergy to go between laptop and desktop. Im adding another machine and going to run a kvm setup to switch between the two desktop machines. ANYONE who designs, or does video editing etc KNOWS that once you switch to a dual monitor setup you will never go back. Ive actually toyed with the idea of quad 27" monitors. But yes again. You are clueless.

bvds 08-24-2006 06:35 AM

that would be too cool! :thumbsup

Ya I use Nuendo to record with, and trying to edit multible audio tracks with a single monitor would drive me bonkers. Going to take a new picture of my setup here in just a bit.

Than two 30", plus it's less expensive to have this setup.

Great setup :thumbsup

One moment. I said using two MONITORS is stupid.

Using two computers or three computers is a totally different thing.

I use two computers, one for rip and encode and the other for all the rest. The one for rip and encode has always it's monitor turned off though. :pimp

I think you are the clueless one here. :pimp

drjones 08-24-2006 11:07 AM

But anyways, back on thread topic.. i was going to buy an apple 24" display.. the 30 is just too big for me.

Then I found the Dell 24" monitors wich have great consumer reports ratings, and have a few more features than the apple displays and the best part is.. they are half the price of the comparable apple... so I got two of them!! Going to post a pic when my set up is complete:)

m3nyc 08-24-2006 11:15 AM

i be like forget a 30 inch.
ill take an apple g5 quad with running osX and windows at the same time....and a 20"

talk bout boostin productivity YA!

Ok, so I have got a dual core comp, and can do encoding etc on one screen while working undisturbed on the other one. Still stupid?

jeffrey 08-24-2006 06:26 PM

Well I bought two dell 2007, 20.1" wide screens.
And I must say I love them.

I'll get a pic here soon. Just bought a new desk, so its a pretty big mess right now.

oops forgot to post a pic, well glad I didnt. I just upgraded this week to dual 22" widescreen flatscreens. Still working on my desk. Trimming out all the white painted areas with wood trim, and building a foot rest /wirechase underneath. And in the middle now of building a enclosure on the left and right side that each store 1 computer. The one on the right is partly done, but needs fabric covering applied, and glass door put on. Getting there slowly. :winkwink:

Thanks, ya I use Synergy so only use one mouse and keyboard for the laptop and desktop. Working on a system now so I can do everything right from my dual 22"s. Just ordered 2 new boxes, and adding 4 more for a new business we are doing. So with my existing equipment will have 8 machines in my office. Trying to work out how to use kvm, and remote desktop so I dont have to leave my chair. :winkwink:

E$_manager 09-18-2006 08:26 AM

Those are nice things, but i wouldn't need such. May be i've never experienced and that is why i don't know that i need it. :) He!

Gillespie 09-18-2006 08:46 AM

Nice setups! I liked this last one best, except for the phone setup.

Z 09-18-2006 08:58 AM

I've been using two 19"s for a few years and lately, have been drooling over a 32" Samsung HD monitor/TV that's for sale at the mall here for $950.

I need a new computer before I step up. I'm running these two off of a laptop video card with one digital and one analog plug in a docking station. My next step is a desktop with two 512mb Nvidia cards in SLI, that's 4 digital outs. With that, I'll do a setup like the guy above. The 32" in the middle, with my 19"s on either side.

...can't wait.

Z 09-18-2006 09:01 AM

Damn sticky...that is a KILLER setup.
